Wrexham have announced their final squad for the remainder of the 2024/25 season, opening the door to a free-agent addition.
The Red Dragons’ squad has been transformed over the last year, with nine players signed in the summer and three more in the 2025 winter transfer window.
Three free agents were also brought in at the back end of 2024, while a couple of previously key stars were allowed to leave Wrexham in January and early February.
Anthony Forde has departed by mutual consent, while James Jones left for Burton Albion.
Now, with the Welsh outfit set to return to League One action next week against Northampton Town, Wrexham have confirmed their 22-man squad for the remainder of the season.
After Ryan Longman, Jay Rodriguez, and Sam Smith arrived in the most recent transfer window, one player was expected to be cut.
However, Phil Parkinson opted to axe both Will Boyle and Luke Bolton. One of the duo could still be registered at any point in the campaign if needed but alternatively, Wrexham could look to the free-agent market.
With this in mind, we have picked out three players currently out of contract who Parkinson and co. could land.

Best free agents Wrexham could now sign
Manchester United EFL cup winner Brandon Williams
With Bolton out of the squad, Wrexham have one wing-back less than they did this time in August.
However, Brandon Williams is currently available as a free agent and much like Longman, is incredibly versatile.
He is competent at left-back, right-back, and has even played as a centre-back on a few occasions so would likely do a job as a left-sided centre-back in a back three if Lewis Brunt needs a rest.
Williams has played the majority of his senior career with Manchester United, whom he has notched 51 appearances for and won the Carabao Cup with in 2023.

Former Rangers ace Ryan Kent
It’s somewhat baffling that Ryan Kent is still available as a free agent since leaving Fenerbahce in October.
The 28-year-old excelled in the Scottish Premier League with Rangers and has scored 48 goals and provided 72 assists throughout his career, which began in Liverpool’s academy.
Kent is another versatile player who could prove to be a very useful squad option and impactful off the bench owing to his lightning pace.
The Oldham-born star is a natural left-winger but can play on the right, as a number 10, as a centre-forward and just as second-striker.
Daniel Amartey won the Premier League with Leicester City
While not a major cause for concern right now, the form of both Dan Scarr and Eoghan O’Connell of late hasn’t been great.
Wrexham’s previously solid clean sheet record has taken something of a battering and Parkinson may wish to strengthen his backline, especially now Boyle is no longer in the 22-man team.
Daniel Amartey joined Leicester City midway through their Premier League title-winning campaign of 2015/16.
The centre-back went on to feature 106 times in the top flight and has experience in the Champions League and Europa League.
Amartey has been a free agent since leaving Besiktas in September 2024.
