Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson has made an admission regarding the January transfer window and how he is looking at making signings.

It has been a quiet transfer window for Wrexham so far as they are yet to make any additions to their squad.

Now Phil Parkinson has made it clear that he is looking to make some signings in the January transfer window.

It must be said that it has been a great season so far for the Reds which sees them occupy second place in League Two.

Their most recent win has seen the Reds overcome a tough first half and secure a 2-0 win. This was thanks to James McClean crosses which found Steven Fletcher and Paul Mullin.

Despite their good form, there is still good authority suggesting that some moves are being looked at in the winter window.

Parkinson on January window moves

There have been links between Wrexham and various quality players. These include more unknown quantities like Ronan Hale and experienced pros like Jonson Clarke Harris.

Although there haven’t been many rumours, there have still been some whispers regarding potential moves.

Discussing the transfer window with The Athletic, Parkinson has opened up about his side and their business strategy.

On that, he said: “There are a lot of enquiries going on but, equally, we have some good players ready to make a big contribution.

“If there is a player out there who we feel can improve us, we will make a move. We are always looking. It can be a bit of a game of poker. This is a competitive business when you’re trying to sign players.”

The January window is typically a tough time to find good value for transfers. This hasn’t yet stopped the Reds from trying to make moves possible.

With that being said, there haven’t been any concrete rumours as of yet. This hasn’t seen any moves be made this window yet.

Parkinson has given his reasons behind this. On that, he said: “I keep getting told there’s no money in football. But, when we try to sign players and we keep getting told they don’t need the money so don’t need to sell. It can be hard to wrestle players away.”

This campaign has been superb for the Reds and January signings could continue to benefit this forward progress. The January window poses a great opportunity for Parkinson and Wrexham to improve.
