After completing the signing of Liberato Cacace, Wrexham now look to have another potentially very exciting player lined up.
Wrexham’s summer transfer window seems to be bursting back into life, with the signing of Liberato Cacace and links to a handful of potentially very exciting signings in the last 24 hours or so.
On Friday, Wrexham announced the signing of Cacace who joins in a club record £4million transfer from Serie B side Empoli, who were relegated from the Serie A last season.
And despite Wrexham being in New Zealand right now, the club has seemingly been working hard behind the scenes on more new signings with links to the likes of Bolton Wanderers captain George Thomason, and Hull City’s Alfie Jones.
Reports have revealed that Wrexham are weighing up a £1.2million bid for Thomason and a £3million bid for Jones.
Not only that, but departed Sheffield Wednesday striker Josh Windass is also a target, and a seemingly prime one for Phil Parkinson too.

Wrexham in talks to sign Josh Windass after Sheffield Wednesday exit
Windass has left Sheffield Wednesday after five years and 53 goals. It comes amid the Owls’ financial turmoil which has seen a number of players either sold or released, with Windass and Wrexham January target Michael Smith among those to have handed in their notices this summer.
The latest comes from journalist Darren Witcoop. He writes on X that talks ‘continue’ between Wrexham and Windass ‘over a free transfer’, but he adds that a deal is ‘not cut and dry’ given the fact that there are multiple Championship teams looking at a deal for the 31-year-old.
It comes after a prolific season for Windass in the Championship. He enjoyed his best ever season with the Owls scoring 13 goals in 44 league games, which is also the most league games he’s played in a single season for the club after previously enduring sells on the sidelines.
I’ve watched Josh Windass play so many times, he’d be quality for Wrexham
In the past, I’ve seen Windass play many a time. As a Sheffield Wednesday season ticket holder in the past I got to see the best and the worst of the striker, but on the whole, if he were to sign for Wrexham then it could be one of the signings of the season.
Whilst his injury record has been patchy, and whilst Windass can go through inconsistent spells of form, on the whole he’s a striker who can reliably score goals, and some brilliant ones at that too.
Last season he scored one from his own goal, as well as that brilliant lobbed goal against Blackburn Rovers the season before when Sheffield Wednesday dramatically escaped relegation from the Championship.
As far as Championship strikers go, Windass is up there among the most prolific and most skilled. If Wrexham sign him then he’d be their starting striker no doubt.
