Wrexham are now close to signing Coventry City captain Ben Sheaf as the midfielder prepares to undergo a medical.

Wrexham could be in for a very busy end to the summer transfer window.

Phil Parkinson is expecting more business to be done before the window slams shut on Monday night.

Wrexham have racked up 10 new signings this summer, but Parkinson is still working on more additions.

Bristol City have rejected Wrexham’s moves for Zak Vyner, with offers of £1.75million and £2million snubbed.

Wrexham will hope to tempt the Robins into a deal, but Parkinson appears to be on the verge of raiding another Championship rival.

Ben Sheaf set for Wrexham medical ahead of Coventry City exit

Parkinson appears to be keen on adding another midfielder, with Wrexham keen on Everton’s Harrison Armstrong.

Wrexham now want Ben Sheaf and have been in talks to land the Coventry City captain ahead of the window closing.

Sky Sports now claim that a £6.5million deal has been agreed, with Sheaf now on the verge of completing a move to the STōK Cae Ras.

Sheaf will undergo his Wrexham medical on Monday and seal a move to North Wales before the deadline.

Sheaf’s injury record at Coventry may be cause for concern, as a number of muscle injuries have sidelined him in recent seasons.

Wrexham will hope for no major issues during the medical, and then finalise the deal to make Sheaf signing number 11 this summer.

Ben Sheaf to reunite with three former teammates at Wrexham

Sheaf won’t come in as a complete stranger at Wrexham.

The 27-year-old came up in the Arsenal ranks and crossed paths with both Arthur Okonkwo and George Dobson.

Okonkwo and Sheaf played four games together for the Arsenal Under-23s during the 2018-19 season and will now reunite.

Sheaf only played once with Dobson, featuring together against Galatasaray in the UEFA Youth League in the 2014-15 season, according to Transfermarkt.

New Wrexham signing Callum Doyle also knows Sheaf very well, turning out together 34 times at Coventry during the 2022-23 season.

Both players featured in Wrexham’s 4-3 win over Coventry in 2023, but now look set to join forces under Parkinson in the coming hours.
