Wrexham may be ready to splash big money in the summer transfer market, but the Championship spending has already begun.

Wrexham will be competing with Championship clubs next season, with Phil Parkinson guiding the club to a third straight promotion.

Fans flooded the STōK Cae Ras pitch as Wrexham beat Charlton Athletic 3-0, securing promotion to the Championship with a game to spare.

Wrexham then beat Lincoln City 2-0 on Saturday, bringing the curtain down on the League One season with a victory.

Phil Parkinson avoided transfer talk before facing Lincoln, but the coast is clear for Wrexham to now think about summer plans.

Reports suggest Wrexham are planning to splash the cash on new signings this summer, but one significant Championship deal has already been done.

Swansea City confirm early £5m signing

We would not be surprised to see Wrexham’s transfer record move to new heights this summer.

Wrexham’s record moved to around £500,000 last summer before quadrupling all the way up to £2million in January.

Sam Smith joined Wrexham in that record deal, and Wrexham may well spend big money this summer.

Remarkably, the Championship market already has its first major deal of the summer – and it has come from Welsh rivals Swansea City.

Swansea have confirmed the signing of Zeidane Inoussa, with the BK Hacken winger signing a five-year deal in South Wales.

Reliable Swedish newspaper Expressen claim that the fee is a huge £5million, marking a significant fee for the Swans.

22-year-old winger Inoussa arrives having shown promise in Sweden, but this is quite the investment for Swansea.

We didn’t expect to see such huge deals being completed just days after the Championship season ended, but here we are; the spending has begun.

Wrexham are likely to join in at some point, but whether any signing reaches the £5million mark remains to be seen.

Wrexham and Swansea City set for Championship battle

The 2025-26 season will see Wrexham and Swansea battle it out in terms of becoming the highest-finishing Welsh side in the English system.

Cardiff City’s relegation to League One means this battle will be a straight head-to-head between Wrexham and Swansea.

Wrexham and Swansea have not faced off in league action for more than 20 years, last meeting in a 0-0 draw back in March 2003.

Few would have expected the two sides to go this long without facing each other, but the two clubs spent a long time going in opposite directions.

Now back together at least, Wrexham will be keen to get the better of Swansea, not just in two games against the Swans, but also in the league table.

The battles even have some big-name interest after Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric invested in Swansea, teeing up a big clash with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

This £5million investment in Inoussa shows Swansea mean business this summer, and with Championship spending for the summer now set off, Wrexham will no doubt have some exciting signings in mind too.
