Wrexham snapped up Ryan Longman on Friday but another addition from Hull City now appears to be unlikely.
Wrexham fans had been waiting patiently for a new signing during his January window.
Friday brought that first signing as Wrexham confirmed the arrival of Ryan Longman from Hull City.
Wrexham have paid around £500,000 to sign Longman and finally lure him to the STōK Cae Ras.
Wrexham were keen on Longman last summer but Phil Parkinson has finally landed his man.
Longman goes into the Wrexham squad to face Stevenage on Tuesday night with a potential home debut in the pipeline.
Hull City talented wanted after Wrexham transfer ‘collapse’
Longman reunites with Andy Cannon at Wrexham having previously played with the midfielder at Hull.
Yet if Longman was expecting goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala to follow him, he may be left disappointed.
Wrexham looked into signing Lo-Tutala following Callum Burton’s injury in December.
Lo-Tutala even visited for Wrexham’s EFL Trophy win over Crewe Alexandra but Parkinson was blocked from making an emergency loan signing.
The deal hasn’t materialised in this January window either and the Hull Daily Mail claim that a move to Wrexham ultimately ‘collapsed’ for Lo-Tutala.
It’s suggested that Lo-Tutala is now wanted by Wrexham’s League One rivals Crawley Town before next week’s transfer deadline.
Lo-Tutala is ‘desperate’ to play first-team football but Hull don’t want to let him go without bringing in a new goalkeeper of their own.
Wrexham travel to face Crawley this Saturday afternoon, so Lo-Tutala may end up playing against Parkinson’s side if the deal can be done in the coming days.
Wrexham may not sign a goalkeeper after all
Perhaps Wrexham will call up Hull again in the coming days and resurrect a deal for Lo-Tutala.
Yet if we had to guess right now, we would suggest that Wrexham have either moved on or may not even prioritise another goalkeeper at all.
Arthur Okonkwo is back from injury and Mark Howard equipped himself well in his recent run in the team.
Wrexham have also kept Brad Foster, signing the goalkeeper to a contract until the end of the season whilst holding a one-year option on the deal.
Parkinson may now be happy with his goalkeeping options until Burton returns from injury, which may not be until the end of the season, but the fact that Wrexham haven’t resurrected the Lo-Tutala move – and may watch on as he potentially joins a League One rival – speaks volumes.
