The main focus at Wrexham this month has been incomings, though there could also be some sales made in January.

It was a fairly quiet opening to the transfer window for the Red Dragons but business now looks to be finally picking up in the last week or so.

On the incomings front, Wrexham have signed Ryan Longman in a £500,000 deal from Hull City this week.

Meanwhile, two players have already left the Racecourse Ground – one on loan and a second permanently.

Billy Waters has joined Oldham Athletic permanently after previously spending the first half of the campaign on loan with Halifax Town.

Elsewhere, Jake Bickerstaff extended his stay at Altrincham, returning to the National League side on another six-month loan deal.

More players could follow said duo out the door in Wales before the deadline on February 3rd, though.

Phil Parkinson hints at Wrexham sales in January transfer window

Even with said players leaving the club already this month, Wrexham still have a very big squad.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson freed up one space when his contract ran out, but Longman will now take that.

And given Wrexham still want a centre-forward this month plus their squad was already too big to fit Anthony Forde in this season, it makes sense that exits will be sanctioned in the winter window.

Now, as per Leader Live, when discussing the 22-man League One squad, Phil Parkinson hinted decisions need to be made on potential exits, name-dropping Will Boyle and Luke Bolton when doing so.

He said: “We just wanted to get through the Birmingham game on Thursday and give ourselves the weekend to look at the numbers because it is coming to that period at the end of the month where we will have to make decisions about the 22 man squad,” said Parkinson.

“There are players who haven’t featured a lot, some through injury and some still injured like Luke Bolton and Will Boyle, and decisions have got to be made.”

Selling Boyle and Bolton seems like wise moves for Wrexham, especially given how little playing time they have had in 2024/25 and how much competition there is in their positions.

Parkinson called Boyle ‘outstanding’ in 2024 but the arrival of Dan Scarr and Lewis Brunt over the summer means he’s now very far down the centre-back pecking order.

Aside from that duo, if a centre-forward is signed before deadline day, Modou Faal should be loaned out to gain some much-needed minutes.

Midfield is also fairly bloated as well, so James Jones could be moved on, while Forde may wish to seek a new challenge if he’s left out of the 22-man squad once more.
