Wrexham are still hopeful of adding to their ten signings so far this summer transfer window.

Wrexham’s owners vowed to be ‘aggressive’ in the summer window and they have delivered on that promise as the Red Dragons currently top the spending in the Championship.

Callum Doyle was confirmed by Wrexham as the club’s tenth signing of the summer but Phil Parkinson is still keen for further business.

Players would have to depart the Racecourse Ground with a 25-man squad limit looming over Wrexham, however, one EFL pundit has given the green light to their next transfer target.

Don Goodman backs Jordan James to move to Wrexham

Speaking to Football League World, EFL pundit Don Goodman has given his backing to Jordan James moving to Wrexham before the September 1st deadline.

Wrexham are interested in James with the midfielder currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Stade Rennais.

James has Championship experience with Birmingham City in the past and has also earned 20 caps for Wales at the age of just 21. Goodman thinks it would be a good fit.

Goodman stated: “Obviously, my last sighting of Jordan James was in the Championship for Birmingham City in a team that ultimately got relegated. But he was a young player that stood out and had a really, really decent season.

“Obviously, went to Rennes last season, only started 14 games, so maybe hasn’t progressed as he would’ve hoped and certainly would’ve been hoping for more game time.

“If he went to Wrexham, he’d be another Welsh player to that contingent, and you would imagine he’d be pushing for a start on a regular basis at Wrexham, as things stand.”

Where would Jordan James fit into Phil Parkinson’s plans?

Jordan James would likely replace Matty James as the player that sits in front of Wrexham’s back three should a deal be completed.

The Welsh international has the ability to cover a lot of ground in the middle of the park and reads the game well from a defensive point of view.

The experience of Matty James would still be invaluable to the Wrexham squad and there may even be games where Parkinson decides to play both in a double pivot to add solidity to his side.

Signing Jordan James would allow the likes of Lewis O’Brien and Nathan Broadhead to have that freedom to create things further forward, knowing they have an agile figure behind them.

If Wrexham can make James their 11th signing of the summer, it would complete a window beyond the expectations of any supporter and give them a real platform to attack the division.
