Wrexham head into transfer deadline day having already wrapped up three signings to bolster Phil Parkinson’s squad.
Wrexham are in a strong position in the race for promotion to the Championship but simply couldn’t afford to stand still.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds have backed Phil Parkinson brilliantly throughout the club’s rise but January signings were needed.
Wrexham snapped up Ryan Longman to kick off the January business, paying £500,000 to lure him away from Hull City.
Two strikers then arrived on Friday with Wrexham signing Sam Smith from Reading in a new club-record transfer.
Jay Rodriguez followed from Burnley, handing Parkinson two new attacking options to utilise in the push for promotion.

Elliot Lee on Wrexham transfer hopes
Smith and Rodriguez impressed Wrexham fans as they were both thrown straight into action against Crawley Town.
Longman came off the bench to set up Elliot Lee’s winning goal too, so Wrexham can be pleased with the business to this point.
Whether Wrexham make more moves on transfer deadline day remains to be seen.
Striker Ollie Palmer is attracting interest but attacking midfielder Lee is welcoming the idea of more signings.
Speaking to BBC Sport after Saturday’s win over Crawley, Lee essentially urged Wrexham to keep bringing in better and better players.
Lee wants to stay on this Wrexham rise but believes that big signings help raise the level in training and on the pitch.
Lee added that more signings on deadline day would be ‘brilliant’, but does still feel that Wrexham have a really strong squad at Parkinson’s disposal.
“The club’s going in a great direction and we’ve all got the same target and the same goal,” said Lee.
“So keep on bringing in better players because better players improve players around them. We all have one goal in mind.
“We brought in Sam, Jay and Longy and it’s three great additions to the team. If there’s more to come then great because it helps the club and everyone. It gives everyone a motivation in training, you see better players coming in, it ups training.
“We’ve got a really strong squad in there. If it gets added to again then brilliant,” he added.
Elliot Lee competition should be the next priority
Wrexham wanted a striker coming into January and have now signed two in Smith and Rodriguez.
Even Longman can play up front if needed, but is more likely to operate down the right flank.
If Wrexham are to make another signing on transfer deadline day, another creative midfielder would be our pick.
Lee is a quality player on his day but we have seen him go through dips in form given that he is in the starting XI more often than not.
Wrexham haven’t yet added a midfield player with guile, creativity and goal threat who can come in and give Lee a rest.
Wrexham have served up some fairly toothless displays at times this season and just having that extra creative player to change a game or give Lee a rest would be so valuable.
Lee wants more signings to arrive but competition for his place in the team may actually be the next best move for Wrexham after signing Smith and Rodriguez.
