Wrexham could make signings in the goalkeeping department this summer, but one former stopper may head elsewhere in the Championship.

Wrexham are yet to make a new signing with the summer transfer window in its infancy.

Phil Parkinson has already started making changes though, with some experienced heads leaving the club.

Steven Fletcher is leaving Wrexham this summer, though the striker has not made that decision himself as Parkinson simply felt it was time to move on.

Mark Howard has departed and fellow goalkeepers Liam Hall and Brad Foster are being let go.

Three goalkeepers leaving in one summer certainly opens up space for new stoppers to arrive, with Wrexham now linked with re-signing Danny Ward.

Former Wrexham stopper Daniel Bachmann could be on the move

Ward has been released by Leicester City and could return to Wrexham on a free transfer, more than 13 years since leaving the club.

Another former Wrexham goalkeeper may be on the move this summer – and could switch Championship clubs.

Pink Un report that Norwich City have Watford stopper Daniel Bachmann on their radar as the Canaries consider signing two goalkeepers.

Angus Gunn is leaving Norwich and backup stopper George Long could follow him out of Carrow Road this summer.

Bachmann is a familiar name to Wrexham fans, having joined on loan from Stoke City back in 2014.

The Austrian stopper played 18 times for Wrexham before heading back to Stoke, only to be loaned out again to Ross County and Bury.

Watford pounced for Bachmann in 2017, and he has now played nearly 150 times for the Hornets.

Now 30, Bachmann is on the Norwich radar for a potential summer move and could remain in the Championship.

That would still allow Bachmann the chance to play against Wrexham next season, 10 years since his loan move at the STōK Cae Ras came to an end.

Daniel Bachmann still holds Wrexham loan close to his heart

Bachmann was still learning his trade when he joined Wrexham, and the loan move thrust him into a major rivalry.

Wrexham faced Chester in September 2014 as Bachmann started in a 2-1 defeat.

Speaking in December, Bachmann hailed the atmosphere of that rivalry, suggesting that it was the best he had played in.

Bachmann noted that it was ‘quite aggressive’ but the game lives long in his memory, especially as it helped mould him into the player he is today.

Whether it’s with Norwich or Watford, Wrexham fans will give Bachmann a warm welcome if he returns to the STōK Cae Ras next season.
