Wrexham have just completed a deal to sign Danny Ward, who becomes the Dragons’ second signing of the summer. Now, a third could be on its way very soon.

Phil Parkinson’s side have taken their summer transfers total to two, after Wrexham completed a deal to sign Danny Ward on a free transfer following his release at Leicester City.

The Wrexham-born former Liverpool goalkeeper joins Ryan Hardie in moving to the Racecourse this summer, ahead of Wrexham’s return to the second tier of English football after a 40 year hiatus.

And it looks like Wrexham could sign a number of players in July with the club having been linked with a multitude of potential new signings since the end of last season.

In particular, it looks like the midfield department will be heavily bolstered, with Wrexham linked with Christian Eriksen for example, though that link has gone cold.

Elsewhere, Tom Cairney looks set to stay at Fulham despite having had an offer to move to Wrexham this summer.

Tom Lawrence’s stance on a move to Wrexham revealed

Another midfielder mentioned this summer is Tom Lawrence. Born in Wrexham, the 23-cap former Wales international started his career as a youngster at Manchester United but is best known for his time with Derby County between 2017 and 2022. He left to join Rangers that year, but Lawrence is now a free agent and he’s been linked with a move to his hometown team.

The latest comes from Daily Mail, and it’s good news for Parkinson. They report that, whilst Lawrence has interest from the Middle East and from Turkey, the chance of returning to play for Wrexham is ‘understood to be appealing’ to the 31-year-old.

Lawrence has a wealth of experience at Championship level too, with an incredible record of 50 goals and 40 assists in 264 games in the second tier, mostly with Derby County with whom he made 185 total appearances, scoring 37 and assisting 25.

Wrexham are targeting another experienced midfielder right now

With Lawrence open to the move and available on a free transfer, this could be one that we see materialise in the very near future, and it’d certainly be an exciting signing for the Dragons.

But Parkinson is also putting the feelers out for Lewis O’Brien at Nottingham Forest right now.

Wrexham have been linked with O’Brien throughout the summer. But all along it’s looked like a difficult pursuit with multiple Championship teams interested in signing the former Huddersfield Town man.

But recent reports have revealed how Hull City are no longer interested in O’Brien, and it was they who looked like the front-runners for his signature. Now, it’s claimed that Wrexham are set to table a £5million bid for O’Brien, potentially making him their record signing.

If Parkinson can add Lawrence and O’Brien to his midfield this summer then it would give Wrexham a really strong midfield pairing going into next season.
