Wrexham’s summer transfer window is set to be a busy one.

Phil Parkinson admitted departures were likely amid their promotion to the Championship and new rules involving a 25-man squad.

Ryan Reynolds backs Parkinson’s transfer strategy of carefully selecting the right players for the Wrexham dressing room but incomings and outgoings are expected at the Racecourse Ground.

Wrexham have interest in Callum Robinson amid Cardiff’s relegation to League One and the Red Dragons could also rekindle January interest on a number of targets.

Hull City want to sign Wrexham target Joe Gelhardt

Wrexham were interested in Joe Gelhardt during the January transfer window before opting to sign Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez in the forward positions.

Leeds are ready to sell Gelhardt following their promotion back to the Premier League and the young striker only has a year left on his deal.

According to Hull Live, Hull City manager Ruben Selles has made his intentions clear that he would like to keep Gelhardt at the club following a successful loan spell.

Whether Parkinson sees Gelhardt as an opportunity to strengthen his squad remains to be seen but his contract situation and Leeds’ willingness to sell could make the deal easier than in January.

What Ruben Selles said about Joe Gelhardt

Speaking to Hull Live, Selles was full of praise for Gelhardt and the impact he had on helping to preserve Hull’s status as a Championship club next season.

Selles stated: “I just think that it has been a pleasure for us to have Joe. His way to work has been exceptional. His qualities and abilities are exactly what you expect from a player, but also from a person in our environment.

“I will be happy if he can stay with us for another season, but there are a lot of things that need to be discussed, not only my intention.”

Championship experience is what Parkinson will be looking for in his summer recruitment and of course, whether the player’s attitude and commitment fits in with his squad.

Gelhardt has proven to be able to handle the second tier and even made an impact in the Premier League when he first broke into the Leeds team.
