Wrexham are in the market for a new forward but one player linked could join a League One rival.
The Red Dragons are in a fierce battle for promotion this season, with very little separating the top four teams.
Wycombe Wanderers currently occupy top spot in League One but Birmingham City, who have two games in hand on Wrexham, are still favourites for the title.
That likely means the second automatic promotion place will go to one of Wycombe, Wrexham or Huddersfield Town.
Not too much separates the trio at present and the top-four could change once more after the latest round of fixtures.
| Team | Points | Matches played |
| Wycombe | 50 | 23 |
| Birmingham | 50 | 22 |
| Wrexham | 48 | 24 |
| Huddersfield | 43 | 22 |
Much of the attention has been on the top three clubs this season but Huddersfield remain a threat and will overtake Wrexham if they win their games in hand.
The Terriers also look set to battle Phil Parkinson’s side on the transfer front this month.

Ryan Hardie told to join Huddersfield Town over Wrexham
Plymouth Argyle striker Ryan Hardie has been linked to Wrexham this week and is said to have a £2m release clause.
The initial report, however, claimed both Huddersfield and fellow League One side Charlton are also interested in the centre-forward.
Now, speaking to Football League World, former player turned EFL pundit, Carlton Palmer, has been discussing the link and told the Plymouth man he should move to Huddersfield.
He said: “Which one would be the most attractive club for him to go to? It’s Wrexham with their Hollywood owners.
“The story is absolutely fantastic, but everyone knows what I think about the manager at Huddersfield. I think he’s a really good guy, he’s really good at his job. Obviously, the one that you look at straight away is Wrexham because of their owners and everything that’s going on with the football club.
“But I’m telling you now, Huddersfield will go up, and he’s a good man to work for. He’s good at what he does, and I think Huddersfield would be the right move for Hardie if he decides to leave Plymouth Argyle.”

Ryan Hardie League One record compared to Wrexham strikers
In truth, supporters of the Welsh outfit probably wouldn’t be too concerned about the forward joining Huddersfield instead.
Wrexham fans responded to Hardie links this week, with it clear they do not rate the Plymouth man.
Former Plymouth boss Ian Foster dubbed Hardie ‘incredible’ in 2024, as per the Plymouth Herald.
But he’s scored just one Championship goal in 2024/25 with the only saving grace that if a transfer does go ahead, his League One goal return during The Greens’ promotion-winning season was decent.
| Stats | Ryan Hardie (22/23) | Ollie Palmer (24/25) | Paul Mullin (24/25) | Steven Fletcher (24/25) | Jack Marriott (24/25) |
| Appearances | 44 | 24 | 22 | 18 | 10 |
| Goals | 13 | 3 | 2 | 4 | 5 |
| Assists | 4 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Whether he could recapture that form this campaign remains to be seen but there are probably better options out there for Wrexham anyway, especially at £2m.
