Wrexham are closing on their third record signing of the summer transfer window.

After deals for Liberato Cacace and Lewis O’Brien made history, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are ready to spend big once again.

Wrexham have agreed a fee for Nathan Broadhead with a fee for the Ipswich Town striker believed to be in the region of £7.5m.

The 27-year-old will arrive in North Wales with bags of Championship experience and the Ipswich fans have made their feelings clear over losing the forward to divisional rivals.

Ipswich fans react to Nathan Broadhead’s potential transfer to Wrexham

Wrexham fans are delighted with Broadhead potentially being the latest arrival to North Wales and the player’s quality can always be gauged by his own club’s reaction.

Ipswich fans have taken to X to express their disappointment at losing one of their favourite players and believe that Wrexham are getting a good player for an excellent fee.

One fan wrote: “Would be devastated to see him leave. Still feel Nathan Broadhead has a huge part to play for #ITFC this season.”

Another fan wrote: “I would be gutted to see Broady go, but I think everyone has a price and expect he will go if 1st team footy is on the cards.”

One Ipswich fan is not happy with the value of the transfer compared to other signings made in the division, they wrote: “If you compare what we bought him for & what we are getting it’s a good deal. If you compare what we are selling him for vs comparative players it’s a bad deal. He’s worth more, last year or not.”

Nathan Broadhead’s Championship record

Phil Parkinson has been keen to add Championship experience all summer and preferably players that have also tasted Premier League football.

Broadhead has done that last season and netted twice in 18 appearances for the Tractor Boys, but it will be his ability to score and create goals in the second tier that will interest the Red Dragons.

Broadhead provides Parkinson with versatility in attack given the Wales international’s ability to play on either wing as well as down the middle.

Whether his signing prompts a change in system from Wrexham remains to be seen, but it is highly unlikely Parkinson will deviate straight away from his trusted 3-5-2 formation.

Broadhead likes to run channels and will be a perfect foil for fellow new signing Ryan Hardie, whilst giving creative talent Josh Windass somebody to find with his excellent range of passing.
