Wrexham are hoping to wrap up the signing of Ipswich Town’s Nathan Broadhead, and have received some encouragement that a deal is close.

Wrexham snapped up Josh Windass last week, landing the former Sheffield Wednesday man on a free transfer.

Windass has joined fellow former Rangers attacker Ryan Hardie at the STōK Cae Ras this summer, and he offers great versatility in the final third.

Phil Parkinson should be delighted to have landed both Windass and Hardie, but his quest for attacking additions is far from over.

Wrexham are closing in on Nathan Broadhead, with a £7.5million move for the Ipswich Town attacker believed to be moving in the right direction.

TWTD report that Ipswich are actually yet to accept Wrexham’s bid for Broadhead, so there may still be some work to do.

Ipswich Town make attacking move amid Wrexham’s Nathan Broadhead chase

This would be a club-record move for Wrexham, and one with Premier League ambition in mind.

Broadhead won promotion to the Premier League with Ipswich in 2024, hitting 13 goals in a brilliant season.

The Welshman showed flashes of his quality in the top flight last season as well, with Wrexham now hoping that he can bring serious attacking threat to the STōK Cae Ras.

There may be work for Wrexham to do before sealing Broadhead’s signature, but Ipswich appear to be preparing for his exit.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Ipswich have now ramped up a move to sign free agent striker Ollie McBurnie.

Now, McBurnie is a striker by trade, and Broadhead has predominantly played as a left-sided winger, but the Welshman has played as a striker on occasion.

Ipswich have other wingers, such as Omari Hutchinson, Chiedozie Ogbene, Jaden Philogene and Jack Clarke, so they seem willing to let Broadhead go and replace his attacking input with a new striker.

Nixon claims that Ipswich have only ‘come on strong’ for McBurnie because a deal for Broadhead to leave is in the pipeline.

Kieran McKenna’s side seemingly expect Broadhead to go, with Wrexham now pushing to secure an exciting deal.

When would Nathan Broadhead line up for Wrexham against Ipswich Town?

We can only imagine that Broadhead will be one of the first names on the Wrexham team sheet if his deal goes through, especially at such a huge price tag.

New signings do tend to be brought into the Wrexham side gradually, with Parkinson keen to give additions some time to settle in.

Wrexham will first take on Ipswich Town on November 22, with Broadhead travelling down to Portman Road to face his former club.

Ipswich then travel to the STōK Cae Ras on February 21 as Broadhead prepares to face the Tractor Boys twice this season.

Ipswich may feel that the offer for Broadhead is just too good to turn down, but the Welshman will surely look to show McKenna what he is missing – if Wrexham can push the deal over the line.
