Wrexham are closing in on signing Nathan Broadhead and could yet pair him up with former Ipswich Town teammate Kieffer Moore.

Wrexham recently made four new signings to bolster Phil Parkinson’s squad ahead of the new season.

Liberato Cacace, George Thomason, Josh Windass and Lewis O’Brien all joined in a real transfer flurry.

Cacace set a new club-record transfer fee at Wrexham, before O’Brien’s deal came in and eclipsed that deal.

Wrexham take on Southampton to kick off the Championship season in just over a week’s time, and Parkinson appears to be close to another signing.

Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead could reunite at Wrexham

Reports from East Anglia suggested that Wrexham had ‘thrashed out’ a deal to sign Broadhead, with a £7.5million move imminent.

TWTD claim that the deal hasn’t actually been agreed just yet, though, meaning Wrexham may still have some work to do before forcing the deal over the line.

Wrexham will hope to finalise Broadhead’s arrival soon, and may then bring in another Welsh forward in Kieffer Moore.

Moore is wanted by Wrexham in a potential £4million move, meaning he could join forces with Broadhead at the STōK Cae Ras.

The pair are not only Wales teammates on the international stage, but also played together at Ipswich Town in 2024.

Moore joined Ipswich on loan in January 2024 and went on to win promotion to the Premier League together.

Broadhead bagged five goals and two assists following Moore’s arrival, playing a crucial role as Kieran McKenna completed back-to-back promotions.

Moore was a major force for the Tractor Boys, smashing seven goals in 18 games to fire Ipswich into the top flight.

Wrexham may now land both players, and will hope to see the duo inspire another promotion-winning campaign at the STōK Cae Ras.

Phil Parkinson could switch Wrexham formation

Parkinson has deployed wing-backs throughout his Wrexham reign, predominantly in a 3-5-2 formation.

The potential arrivals of Broadhead and Moore could change that, though, with more of a 3-4-2-1 formation a possibility.

We could see Broadhead and fellow new signing Josh Windass in the roles either side of a central striker, which could be Moore.

Lewis O’Brien could also operate in one of those advanced roles, though he has enough flexibility in his game to play as a central midfielder.

Parkinson doesn’t have much time to experiment with that approach in pre-season, but it’s something we could see in the Championship if Wrexham complete this double swoop.
