Wrexham have had to turn to the free-agent market to keep their squad well-stocked amid some injury issues.
The Red Dragons recruited well during the 2024 summer transfer window, bringing nine new faces to the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham strengthened all over the pitch and headed into the 2024/25 League One campaign with a very strong squad that had quality depth in most areas.
However, injury woes have already taken their toll on Phil Parkinson’s side this season, especially in the forward line.
After a sensational start to the campaign that saw him net five goals in 10 league games, Jack Marriott is out injured for four months now.
Marriott’s blow was quickly followed by 37-year-old Steven Fletcher picking up an injury pre-Huddersfield Town.
This massively depleted Wrexham’s striking ranks, leaving just three players covering two positions.
In turn, Wrexham moved to secure the services of striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson late last month.

Why Jon Dadi Bodvarsson was excited to join Wrexham
The Icelandic forward joined on a free transfer after leaving fellow League One side Bolton Wanderers over the summer.
Dadi Bodvarsson made his Wrexham debut versus Harrogate Town in the FA Cup this past Sunday, coming off the bench in the 1-0 defeat.
Now, the 32-year-old has shared what he was ‘most excited’ by ahead of making the move to Wales.
As per Leader Live, somewhat surprisingly given the profile of their owners, Dadi Bodvarsson was quick to play down the off-field buzz around Wrexham and instead wanted to highlight the high standards on the footballing side of things:
He said: “First and foremost for me, it is just exciting football-wise.
“Since I have come here, the standard has been really high and the environment is really positive as a football player.
“That is what I was most excited for.
“Obviously you have all the noise around the club at the moment which is positive but first and foremost, it is just great for me to be back in competitive football again.”

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson may see more playing time than expected at Wrexham
After signing last month, some Wrexham fans may have expected Dadi Bodvarsson to play a very limited role during his short-term deal.
However, he looked sharp in his cameo off the bench against Harrogate and the club’s striking issue could lead to the player seeing a lot more action in the coming weeks.
Wrexham fans were left frustrated by Paul Mullin due to his poor finishing in the 1-0 FA Cup loss, with the 29-year-old also having scored just once in the league this term.
Phil Parkinson hit out at Wrexham’s attack after that defeat and if Mullin continues to struggle on the goal front, this could open the door for Dadi Bodvarsson to play a lot more.
