Jamie Vardy has been strongly linked with Wrexham for quite some time now, after the former England striker was let go by Leicester City after 13 years.
After 500 games, 200 goals and a Premier League title, Jamie Vardy has left Leicester City, and where he ends up next has been a hot topic in the transfer market this so far this summer, no less for Wrexham.
After the Dragons earned promotion to the Championship, Wrexham have been linked with a move for Vardy who has interest from the Premier League and across Europe, even from the USA as well with Vardy entertaining MLS offers this summer.
So far this summer, Wrexham have signed two new players in Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward. And in the pre-season opener against Melbourne Victory, Hardie scored on his Wrexham debut.
Among fans at least, there’s a sense that another striker or even two is needed this summer. But Phil Parkinson may well stop at Hardie.

Transfer insider reveals the latest on Jamie Vardy to Wrexham
Already this summer, Wrexham have sent Paul Mullin out on loan, and there remains uncertainty over Ollie Palmer’s future too. That leaves Parkinson’s striker options as Hardie, Jay Rodriguez, Jack Marriott, Sam Smith and Mo Faal: a strike force that may leave some Wrexham fans with concerns going into next season.
And speaking to Wrexham Insider, transfer expert Graeme Bailey revealed the latest on Vardy’s links to the Racecourse. Bailey explains that Vardy is not a prime target for the Dragons right now, and that Parkinson may not even sign another striker.
Bailey said: “Yes, in theory Wrexham would be viable. But he is not at the top of their wanted list is my understanding. Indeed, it is not certain they will bring another striker in.”

If not a striker, which position will Wrexham bolster next?
Speaking from Australia at the start of the pre-season tour, Parkinson said Wrexham were in talks with new signings and that some could even be made whilst the club is down under.
But it all seems a bit slow on the transfer front. No doubt, being on the other side of the world doesn’t help their cause, and with it being quite a lengthy tour it eats up a good chunk of the summer transfer window which closes on September 1st.
Nonetheless, Wrexham have made progress on the Lewis O’Brien signing with a £5million fee understood to have been agreed with Nottingham Forest, albeit for a disagreement on wages blocking a move right now.
Midfield certainly seems like the position Parkinson will bolster next. But targets are dwindling: Tom Cairney is staying at Fulham whilst a deal for Tom Lawrence seems to have gone cold after the initial links.
Wrexham return to Wales next week and we can expect to see some new signings start flooding in soon after that.
