It took over three weeks but Wrexham have finally made a signing in the 2025 January transfer window.

Wrexham have been in the market for a striker this month and while that search is still ongoing, they have made their first addition of the winter.

Ryan Longman has joined the Red Dragons from Hull City on a permanent basis for a fee believed to be in the region of £500,000.

The 24-year-old, who also had interest from Oxford United this month, has penned terms on a contract that will keep him at the Racecourse Ground until 2026/27 with the option of a further year.

Wrexham fans have shared their verdict on Longman arriving already and are thrilled by the move.

Now, supporters of the player’s previous club, Hull, have taken to social media to give their thoughts on his exit.

Hull City fans react as Ryan Longman joins Wrexham

Longman joined Hull on a permanent basis from Brighton and Hove Albion in 2022.

He made 82 appearances for the Tigers, in which he scored eight goals and provided five assists.

After the deal was confirmed on Thursday, fans of the Yorkshire outfit have taken to social media to share their thoughts and their reactions have been mixed.

Some have wished the player well and praised him, while others chose to question his ability.

One fan wrote: “Never good enough for Championship unfortunately. Will always remember that goal vs Everton.”

A second wrote: “Good luck Ryan! Hope you smash it! Thanks for all the effort you put in for the club!”

“I liked Longman. 100 percent effort. Good luck,” another Hull supporter wrote.

“All the best, Ryan. Not a whole lot of consistent quality, but such a grafter. I think we should have kept him, but maybe he wants regular starts going forward and couldn’t be guaranteed them,” a fourth said.

Another added in response to him dropping down to League One with Wrexham: “Right level. Not good enough for any higher.”

A sixth Tigers fan claimed: “World-class until the moment he has to produce a cross/shot/pass when he then becomes Vanarama level.”

“Solid player, works hard and will score at least two screamers a season,” a seventh stated.

While an eighth added: “Workhorse. Capable of worldies. Confidence player. He’s either great or honking at this level. Wish him well.”

Ryan Longman first words as Wrexham player

Wrexham return to action on Tuesday evening and it’s not yet known if Longman will be in line to make his debut or not.

The versatile midfielder is excited to get going, however, and has now sent his first message as a Red Dragons player via the club’s official website.

He said: “I’m over the moon and so glad that the deal is over the line.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of this journey. I came to watch the game last night and the atmosphere was incredible.”
