Wrexham tend to be pretty busy in transfer windows and Phil Parkinson is gearing up for a frantic summer.

We are now a month removed from Wrexham’s 3-0 win over Charlton Athletic, which guaranteed promotion to the Championship.

Wrexham are yet to make new signings, but difficult decisions have already been made.

Steven Fletcher is leaving Wrexham at the end of his contract this summer and more exits are likely.

Paul Mullin could move on having struggled for playing time in 2025, and the same could go for Ollie Palmer.

Both Mullin and Palmer were frozen out after the January transfer window closed, sparking questions about their futures.

Ollie Palmer on his Wrexham future

Wrexham are likely to consider new striker signings this summer, which would only push Mullin and Palmer further down the pecking order.

The duo have formed a brilliant partnership in the Wrexham attack and their contributions to this rise can never be forgotten.

Rob McElhenney finds big departures ‘tragic’, cursing the way in which players often play themselves out of Wrexham by helping the club win promotions.

Wrexham’s march towards the Premier League continues and that means popular stars such as Mullin and Palmer may well leave.

Palmer has now spoken to CBS Sports and does not exactly sound like a man planning his STōK Cae Ras escape route.

Palmer joked about how he has heard speculation surrounding his future at Wrexham ever since his first summer window at the club.

The giant striker noted that he is still commuting from London to North Wales, but is determined to get fit and play a role for Wrexham again next season.

“I’ve got another season there,” said Palmer.

“Of course, you see it [rumours about his future]. I’ve actually had that since I arrived! I arrived in January 2022, three-and-a-half years ago, the following summer window, everyone’s like ’Oh Palmer’s gonna leave’. Every window I’ve been at the club, people think I’m gonna leave!

“My family are down in London and I commute between the two, so I travel up from London to Wrexham. There’s always those rumours there, but I’m gonna come back. It’s obviously a hugely talented squad already and the gaffer is going to build on that, but I’m gonna come back, fight for my shirt and get fit, get ready and go again with the football club,” he added.

Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer won’t be short of suitors

Maybe Mullin and Palmer can force their way back in; we would certainly love to see it.

Mullin has been Wrexham’s goalscoring hero on this incredible journey and Palmer is not just a great target man, but a brilliant character.

The pair will always be welcome at Wrexham no matter what happens this summer, but they will certainly attract interest if Wrexham make them available.

Wigan Athletic have been linked with Mullin and other League One clubs are surely sniffing around.

Bradford City wanted Palmer in January and have just won promotion to League One, though a move to Valley Parade would still be a huge commute for the striker.

Bristol Rovers also looked at Palmer earlier this year, but have been relegated to League Two and may not be quite as appealing now.

Any League One side looking for a real target man should be looking at Palmer, even if he still has hopes of making an impact in the Championship.
