Wrexham’s transfer deadline day is looking to be a fairly quiet one, but one player who has been mooted for a potential move is Ollie Palmer.
A slow transfer window for Wrexham exploded into life last week with the arrival of not one, but two strikers, with Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez joining the Red Dragons.
With so many strikers now in Phil Parkinson’s squad, it’s understandable that murmurs have been bubbling away regarding the future of some of the older heads in the team.
Ollie Palmer would appear to be the prime candidate to head for the exit doors, and is the main Wrexham deal to keep an eye on for deadline day.

Bristol Rovers wanted Ollie Palmer, but a deal isn’t happening
Just days ago, it was revealed that ‘multiple clubs’ were looking at Palmer, and the veteran forward’s future was very much in the air.
Now, the latest on the situation comes from Bristol Live reporter Dan Hargraves, who took to Twitter/X to share what he knows about Bristol Rovers’ pursuit of Palmer.
He wrote: “Interesting one but won’t be happening. Understand that Bristol Rovers were one of a handful of League One clubs who enquired to Wrexham about striker Ollie Palmer after they bought Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.”
By the sounds of it, Parkinson is not willing to let Palmer go just now. But, of course, that could all change in the final hours of deadline day.

Ollie Palmer should stay at Wrexham until the end of the season
If Palmer himself had his say, he would finish his career at Wrexham. Failing that, we know the 33-year-old is keen to move to America and the MLS one day.
While Palmer has been out-of-sorts this season, to say the least, keeping hold of him until the summer is not a bad idea at all. He’s still an effective target man who can change a game on his day, and with the Red Dragons pushing for promotion, they will need all the squad depth they can get.
| Statistics | Ollie Palmer 2024/25 |
|---|---|
| Appearances | 28 |
| Minutes | 1,861 |
| Goals | 3 |
| Assists | 2 |
| Shots on target | 26.8% |
Wrexham experts think Palmer has lost his edge, and we are sure he will fall down the pecking order now, with Sam Smith certainly a better option.
But, it would be a shame for someone so influential and iconic as Palmer to just slip out of the door on deadline day. He deserves more time, and a proper send-off in the summer; hopefully after helping Wrexham get promoted.
