Wrexham left it late to beat Peterborough United on Saturday afternoon with Phil Parkinson potentially eyeing more attacking additions.
Wrexham started 2025 with a defeat, losing 2-1 away at Barnsley on New Year’s Day.
Phil Parkinson wanted a response on Saturday afternoon as Wrexham welcomed Peterborough United to the STōK Cae Ras.
Darren Ferguson expected a fight with Wrexham and his side so nearly battled their way to a point.
Wrexham scored yet another late winner though as Steven Fletcher came off the bench to score for the fourth home game in a row.
Wrexham secured a 1-0 victory but this was a frustrating game for large spells – and may leave Parkinson wanting more quality in attack.

Patrick Bamford out of Leeds United squad
Wrexham want to sign a new striker this month according to reports and a number of names have been suggested.
One of the main names in the frame is Leeds United’s Patrick Bamford, in a rather lofty rumour.
Bamford was linked with Wrexham in December with the striker struggling for minutes at Elland Road.
Wages are bound to be an issue here with Bamford no doubt earning far beyond Wrexham’s highest earner.
Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds may be ready to spend though and tongues were wagging on Saturday with Bamford not even on the bench for Leeds at Hull City.
Some wondered whether this was to keep Bamford out of action ahead of sealing a transfer away.
However, it turns out that Bamford has actually picked up an injury – something which could dent any January transfer.
“Patrick is a hamstring injury, tried everything to get him ready for today but couldn’t, it is hard to assess the timeline,” said Leeds boss Daniel Farke, as quoted by Leeds United News.
It’s unclear when Bamford will even be available to play again due to this injury and that is something Wrexham must consider when eyeing up any move for the former England striker.
Other Championship forwards linked with Wrexham
Bamford is far from the only name in the mix and when you combine his injury with his wages, we would be surprised to see him join Wrexham.
Other forwards have been mentioned though and Wrexham appear to be focusing on the Championship market.
Plymouth Argyle’s Ryan Hardie has been linked with Wrexham but rumours of a £2million move seem a little unlikely.
Bristol City’s Harry Cornick is another name linked with Wrexham but his lack of game time this season is a concern.
Cornick does have a strong bond with Elliot Lee but he isn’t the natural goalscorer Wrexham are seeking.
Cauley Woodrow is on Wrexham’s radar too and his proven record at League One level with Barnsley makes him appealing.
Woodrow is out of favour at Luton Town and could emerge as a key target for Wrexham as Parkinson chases attacking additions.
