Wrexham fans are still waiting for their club to make a signing in the 2025 winter transfer window.
Wrexham spent well and big over the summer, breaking their transfer record on two occasions.
Nine players arrived at the Racecourse Ground in the previous window, while three more were signed as free agents.
Matty James and Brad Foster have since extended their stay at Wrexham, penning terms on contracts that keep them in Wales until the end of 2024/25 – the latter has the option of an extra 12 months as well.
It’s been pretty quiet in January for the first three weeks but Phil Parkinson and co. now appear to be on course to make their first signing of the transfer window.
Reports emerged on January 21st that Wrexham are closing in on signing Ryan Longman from Hull City in a £500,000 deal.

Oxford United were also thought to hold an interest in the 24-year-old, but news on that front seemed to be outdated.
Commenting after watching his side in action on Tuesday evening, Oxford’s manager confirmed he doesn’t expect Longman to sign for them.
This suggests the versatile Hull ace will be joining Wrexham this month, though when speaking about transfers this week, as per Leader Live, Parkinson gave little away.
He said: “We are continuing to work in several areas but nothing is imminent.
“Things can change quite quickly in this month but we have got a good squad and we have got players coming back into that like Jack Marriott who has had another week training.
“We are assessing the situation all the time.”
Speaking further on improving his squad in the winter window, Parkinson added: “That’s the ideal scenario. It’s a challenge in terms of getting the players of the quality level we want. That is the key.
“We are operating right at the top end of this division and to get players to improve what you’ve got can be tough but it’s not for the want of working hard.
“Not just myself and all the staff but people above me as well. Hopefully we can bring one in.”

Who else are Wrexham trying to sign in January
Longman’s addition will give Parkinson a lot of options as he can be used all across the frontline and in both wing-back positions.
However, he does not have the greatest goalscoring record when playing as a striker, perhaps suggesting another number nine still needs to be brought in.
On this front, Wrexham have been linked with Michael Smith of Sheffield Wednesday this month.
Speculation around his future in Yorkshire has begun to swirl in the last few days as well after Danny Rohl left Smith out of the Owls’ matchday squad to face Leeds United on Sunday.
