Wrexham released three goalkeepers this summer as Phil Parkinson pounced to bring Danny Ward back to the STōK Cae Ras.

Phil Parkinson made some big decisions after Wrexham sealed a third straight promotion.

Paul Mullin has joined Wigan Athletic, but Steven Fletcher’s Wrexham exit was possibly the biggest surprise of the summer so far.

Fletcher was not the only player let go by Wrexham over the summer, as Parkinson refreshed his goalkeeping options.

Mark Howard, Liam Hall and Brad Foster were all released as Parkinson paved the way for Wrexham to re-sign goalkeeper Danny Ward.

Ward joins Arthur Okonkwo and Callum Burton at the STōK Cae Ras, while Wrexham’s former stoppers are looking for their next opportunities.

Liam Hall on trial at Rotherham United

Last week, Brad Foster completed a move to Ross County as he chases first-team action in Scotland.

Fellow stopper Hall is now hoping to secure a transfer of his own, with the Rotherham Advertiser reporting that he is now on trial with Rotherham United.

The 20-year-old is currently working with Rotherham on their pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Rotherham are considering signing Hall as a third-choice goalkeeper behind Cameron Dawson and Ted Cann.

Hall will learn of Rotherham’s decision once the Millers finish training in Portugal.

Rotherham face Bromley in Albufeira on Friday before returning to face Harrogate Town next week.

Hall shouldn’t have long to wait to find out if a contract is in the pipeline, and he will be desperate to impress boss Matt Hamshaw.

Hall joined Wrexham from Bradford Park Avenue in 2023 but departed without ever making a first-team appearance.

All quiet on Mark Howard

Foster has found himself a new club, and Hall is now hoping to finalise a move of his own.

That leaves Howard as the only one seemingly without a deal in the pipeline, with no interest having been made public at this stage.

Howard still believes that he can start on a regular basis, whether that’s at League One or League Two level.

Based on his performances last season while filling in for the injured Okonkwo and Burton, we would certainly back Howard to make an impact wherever he goes.

Howard certainly deserves to compete for a starting role somewhere, and you can be sure that Wrexham fans will be cheering him on from afar.
