Wrexham are seemingly on the verge of signing another midfielder but one Wales international is still open to a move.
The last few weeks have been difficult for Wrexham on the injury front.
George Evans went down with an injury in the defeat to Stevenage, Jack Marriott has played his final game of 2024 and even Steven Fletcher is facing a spell out of the team.
Wrexham still sit second in League One but Phil Parkinson has seen some experienced performers head to the treatment table.
That means Wrexham are in the market for free agents and Parkinson now appears to have settled on one.
Reports suggest that Wrexham are set to sign former Leicester City midfielder Matty James on a free transfer after his departure from Bristol City.

Joe Morrell on Wrexham
James will allegedly sign until January and offer experienced cover for Evans whilst he recovers from his injury.
That means that Wrexham have probably moved on from Joe Morrell.
Wrexham were linked with Morrell over the summer as the midfielder left Portsmouth.
Morrell was injured at the time though and is only just coming back to fitness.
Welsh international Morrell has now been asked whether he would be interested in signing for Wrexham after that speculation earlier this year.
Speaking to BBC Wales, Morrell noted that Wrexham is quite simply the most exciting club in the Football League right now.
Morrell added that Wrexham don’t particularly appear to need much help, but he would be interested if the call came.
“Wrexham is obviously an exciting club at the minute,” said Morrell.
“I think in the Football League, there are not many more exciting projects than Wrexham, and to play for a Welsh club is something I would love to do at some point as well.
“But to be fair, I don’t think they need much help at the minute. Maybe they’re not in the market for a midfielder, but if they were, then it definitely would be something I’d be interested in,” he added.
Timing has never really lined up for Wrexham and Joe Morrell
Morrell would tick so many boxes for Wrexham.
The 27-year-old is a proven League One midfielder and offers so much energy in the middle of the park.
That is the kind of player Phil Parkinson would love but the timing just hasn’t worked out.
When Morrell became available over the summer, Wrexham prioritised signing George Dobson with Morrell injured.
Just as Wrexham are in the market for a midfielder again, Morrell is only just building up to fitness and James is seemingly viewed as being ready to make more of an instant impact.
Who knows, maybe Morrell to Wrexham will materialise down the line, but this one seemingly won’t happen this season.
