Wrexham have won the race to land a Premier League player who had interest from some top-flight European sides.

The Red Dragons are set for a busy deadline day with at least two signings now expected.

It was reported on Sunday that Wrexham were signing Ben Sheaf from Coventry City in a £6.5m deal.

Sheaf, who has been praised by Declan Rice, will add Championship experience to the Welsh side’s midfield.

Now, another deal is expected to be confirmed on deadline day by Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac’s club.

Wrexham win race for Issa Kabore

It was reported on Monday morning that Wrexham were close to signing Issa Kabore on loan from Premier League giants Manchester City.

The deal is expected to be a season-long move, with no mention of an option to buy.

The Wrexham Insider can now reveal, via our transfer correspondent Graeme Bailey, that Wrexham have beaten top-flight clubs from around Europe to land Kabore.

He said: “Yet another Wrexham deal that is simply outstanding. Hamburg and Paris FC particularly thought they were getting him.

“Kabore is a huge talent and really adds to Wrexham’s squad, which is now hugely impressive. I thought Wrexham were just aiming to stay up but this squad is now play-off calibre, I have no doubt about that.”

Wrexham strengthen crucial position with Issa Kabore

Manchester City signed Kabore from KV Mechelen in 2020 for a fee of around £4m.

He has since had several loan spells across Europe, most recently lining out for German side Werder Bremen.

During his career, Kabore has made 137 appearances, scored one goal and provided 13 assists.

The majority of those outings have come as a right-back or right-wing-back.

The wing-back positions are so important to Parkinson’s system, and adding a player of Kabore’s quality is a huge plus for Wrexham.
