Wrexham look set to complete their first deadline day deal with a loan move for a young Premier League star in the making.
Wrexham are poised for a busy end to the summer transfer window. That’s despite owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac having already spent £30m on new players for Wrexham this summer.
And that total could go closer to £40m with reports emerging ahead of deadline day that Wrexham are set to sign Ben Sheaf from Coventry City.
The Championship midfielder looks set to join and become the 11th signing of the summer, unless he’s beaten to the punch by Manchester City’s Issa Kabore.

Wrexham close to signing Man City player Issa Kabore on loan
On Monday morning, journalist Ben Jacobs revealed exclusively on X that Wrexham and Manchester City are ‘close to finalising’ a season-long loan deal for Kabore. Earlier in the summer, Parkinson reiterated that he wants to do some loan deals this summer, though it looks like Kabore could be the only player who is arriving on loan at the Racecourse.
Several names have been linked with a potential loan move to North Wales, including the likes of Lewis Koumas and Owen Beck at Liverpool, though it is Kabore who Wrexham look set to sign.
And it’s another exciting signing for Phil Parkinson’s side, who got their first Championship win of the season last time, as Wrexham beat Millwall 2-0 away from home.
Who is Man City player Issa Kabore?
Born in Burkina Faso, the 24-year-old Kabore is a right-back or a right wing-back. He began his career in Europe with Belgian side Mechelen.
In 2020 Man City signed Kabore but he’s yet to make a Premier League appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side. Instead, Kabore has been out on loan six separate times having played for the likes of Marseille, Luton Town, Benfica, and Werder Bremen.
Kabore also has an impressive 49 caps for Burkina Faso with two goals. For Kabore though, joining Wrexham will be the first time that he’s ever played in the English Football League, having played in the Premier League with Luton Town previously.
Wrexham returned to action after the international break with a game at home to QPR.
