Ollie Palmer has played his first game away from Wrexham this weekend and has now spoken out.

Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac sent messages to Ollie Palmer this week when his iconic stint with the Dragons came to an end.

Wrexham terminated Palmer’s contract by mutual consent, allowing the 33-year-old to secure a free transfer.

After much speculation, the striker has now signed for Swindon Town, who play their football in League Two.

Wrexham beat Millwall 2-0 on Saturday to secure their first win in the Championship, and their ex-centre-forward was also in action.

Ollie Palmer message after debut

Palmer played for Swindon as they faced off with Crewe Alexandra in a League Two fixture.

It was one of the day’s early kick-offs and saw Ian Holloway’s side come away with a 3-0 victory.

The former Wrexham man did not start the tie, but he did come on in the second half.

Now, the striker has spoken out after his first-ever appearance since leaving the Racecourse Ground.

Taking to his Instagram story, Palmer wrote: “Great win on the road for the boys,” followed by four star eyes emojis.

What Ian Holloway has said about signing Ollie Palmer

After the deal was confirmed, Holloway shared the surprise way he signed Palmer from Wrexham.

The manager was not actually aware that the attacker was available until speaking to another of his summer targets.

He said: “Life can be cruel but it can also be quirky. After the centre-half I was after he said ‘my best mate’s Ollie Palmer, I’m meeting him tonight’.

“I went Oh yeah, what they’re [Wrexham] letting him go? I’m not sure I knew about it all properly because I wasn’t in that market, was I?

“So through that connection, I then get a phone call later on and it’s Ollie Palmer himself.

“So we had a chat, probably one of the best chats I’ve ever had on the phone.”

The Swindon boss also had praise for Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac and their desire to stick with Phil Parkinson.
