Fans of Wrexham will be hoping for a busy 2025 January transfer window as they aim to keep their promotion push going.

Very few people likely expected Wrexham to be in the position they are at this stage of the 2024/25 campaign.

The Red Dragons have secured back-to-back promotions under Phil Parkinson but a third seemed out of the question.

With half a campaign now gone, however, Wrexham remain firmly in the race for automatic promotion alongside Birmingham City, Wycombe Wanderers and Huddersfield Town.

However, with things so tight at the top of League One, it would behoove the Welsh outfit to strengthen their squad in January.

Wrexham expert wants Macaulay Langstaff signed

The main position that should be strengthened this month is up front, with Wrexham eyeing a striker.

Patrick Bamford, Ryan Hardie and Joe Gelhardt have been linked over the last month or so.

Now though, speaking on the Rob. Ryan. Red podcast, journalist Nathan Salt has stated his view that he’d be ‘all for’ Wrexham making a move for current Millwall forward, Macaulay Lanstaff.

He said: “I also saw a report this week with Millwall looking into a move for Louie Barry. Does that mean Tom Bradshaw becomes available? [He’s] someone we’ve liked before.

“Does Macaulay Langstaff become available, maybe even on a loan? I would still be all for that. It was in the summer I thought Langstaff would be a good pick up.”

What Macaulay Langstaff has said about Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds

Wrexham fans should already be familiar with Langstaff from his time with Notts County.

The two clubs had a close rivalry in the 2022/23 season, both chasing promotion from the National League.

The 27-year-old scored 41 goals and provided seven assists in 45 matches that season and earned high praise from Wrexham’s owners.

Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds commented on Langstaff during Series 2, Episode 12 of ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

Reynolds stated: “God that guy is good. He looks like he could be in Peaky Blinders.” McElhenney added: “I’m not going to enjoy watching him play.”

Langstaff responded to the comments, telling Sky Sports at the time that they were ‘brilliant’ and ‘really funny’.
