It looks like Wrexham might have signing number nine in the crosshairs, with a move for an exciting Premier League youngster on the horizon.
Earlier in the summer, it was revealed that Wrexham were exploring Premier League loan deals for later in the summer’s transfer window. And it looks as though Phil Parkinson has decided the time is now to start targeting some top flight quality, having signed eight new players on permanent deals.
This week, Wrexham have signed Conor Coady and Kieffer Moore on permanent deals, and the two experienced players add a great degree of quality and depth to the side.
After what was a disappointing pre-season tour of Australia and New Zealand, Wrexham are starting to look as though they have a team that could really challenge in the Championship next season, with the Dragons playing Southampton in their season opener on Saturday.
And before then, a new player could arrive at the Racecourse in Lewis Koumas of Liverpool.

Transfer update on Lewis Koumas to Wrexham
Last week it was revealed that Wrexham were interested in signing Koumas from Liverpool. The Reds academy graduate spent last season on loan with Stoke City, featuring 43 times in the Championship, scoring three and assisting twice from the wing.
A move to North Wales has quickly gathered speed after it was recently revealed that Wrexham were leading the race to sign Koumas this summer. Now an emerging update from the popular and trusted Liverpool page Anfield Lounge has confirmed that Wrexham are in advanced talks over the signing of Koumas on a season-long loan deal.
The loan deal, however, will not include an option to buy the youngster who is the son of former player Jason Koumas.

Are Wrexham set for a formation change this season?
Parkinson’s style of play at Wrexham has often been criticised. It’s an older school style of play and certainly not an overly attractive one either, but it’s worked well for him and his players so far and so few would have complaints if Parkinson stuck to his guns next season.
However, the flurry of signings and the positions these players play suggests that there might well be a formation change in the making or at least a bit more fluidity in terms of the shape. Koumas for example is an out-and-out winger and that is something that Parkinson hasn’t always utilised in his Wrexham setups.
Koumas is also a left-sided winger and Liverpool are likely sending him to Wrexham because they think or they have been guaranteed that he will get game time, though Parkinson has James McClean and Liberato Cacace in the left wing back position which may suggest that Koumas is being brought in as a left winger.
That in turn would suggest a change in formation at the Racecourse this summer which may excite fans and could serve Wrexham well in the Championship next season.
Wrexham’s game against Southampton kicks off at 12.30pm on Saturday.
