Phil Parkinson is continuing to juggle preparing for matches and dealing with the final few weeks of the transfer window.

Wrexham are still active in the market and whilst a number of departures need to occur to comply with the Championship’s 25-man squad rule, the Red Dragons are still eyeing more additions.

Wrexham have agreed a £10m deal for Nathan Broadhead, an initial fee of £7.5m was already agreed but the club have increased their offer to accelerate the deal and prevent Ipswich from stalling.

Defensively, Phil Parkinson is eyeing more depth and after interest in Cardiff’s Calum Chambers, the club have been told they are £6m away from the asking price of another target.

Wrexham have £2m bid rejected for Callum Doyle, Manchester City want £8m

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Rob.Ryan.Red’ podcast, journalist Nathan Salt has claimed that Wrexham have seen a £2m bid for Manchester City defender Callum Doyle rejected.

Doyle spent last season on loan at Norwich City and has also had spells in the Championship with Leicester City and Coventry City.

Salt stated: “They did make a bid for Calum Doyle a Manchester City, Wrexham I’m led to believe according to sort of sources made a £2m bid for Calum Doyle, which from one source said that it got laughed out the room that bid.

“How true that is, we’ll see, but the conversation for Doyle starts at around £8m, so you can see there is a huge discrepancy.”

Despite being just 21 years of age, Doyle has vast experience in the division having played 98 times, scoring once and contributing nine assists across various loan spells.

With a huge deal for Broadhead imminent, it remains to be seen whether Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will increase their offer for Doyle.

What is clear, Wrexham are not finished in the transfer market just yet and defence is the area that Parkinson is keen to bolster.

Wrexham target Callum Doyle rated highly by teammates and fans

As per the Pink Un, Norwich defender Shane Duffy was full of praise for Doyle last season having played at the heart of the defence alongside the youngster.

Duffy stated: “He’s got the world at his feet. He’s such a good player. Firstly, I think he’s just a great guy, he’s a great guy and he just wants to learn.

“It’s not like I haven’t enjoyed playing with Jose [Cordoba] or Grant [Hanley], but me and Callum have got this understanding. Callum probably understands English football a little bit more than Jose – he’s still adapting and has a massive future. I’m sure he will be playing soon.”

Sunderland fans were also impressed with Doyle when he played in their League One campaign back in the 2021-22 season.

If Parkinson can pull off a deal for the Man City youngster, it would be another excellent addition to his squad and one that will be a long-term investment for the club.
