Wrexham look to have their ninth summer signing sealed with reports that the Dragons have agreed a club record £10m deal.

Wrexham went into this summer transfer window looking to spend big. It was reported that Wrexham had a £25m transfer budget and so far Phil Parkinson has put that money to good use.

Already the club has smashed their club record transfer twice: first with the signing of Liberato Cacace from Empoli, before Wrexham then signed Lewis O’Brien in a £5m deal from Nottingham Forest.

There have been other signings too which have cost Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac some money. Wrexham have spent on the likes of Kieffer Moore and George Thomason but none come close to what is going to be a £10m fee for Nathan Broadhead.

Wrexham agree deal to sign Nathan Broadhead from Ipswich Town for club record fee

Wrexham have been targeting a move for Broadhead in the last week or so, but it was reported that a deal proved quite difficult as Ipswich Town wanted to bring in a replacement for Broadhead before even considering letting the 14-cap Welsh international go. However, journalist Anthony Joseph has confirmed on X that Wrexham have now agreed a record £10m deal to sign Broadhead from Championship rivals Ipswich Town.

Joseph adds that the 27-year-old is on his way to Wrexham today to undergo a medical and finalise the paperwork on a move to North Wales. It completely obliterates the club record deal for O’Brien, doubling that £5m fee.

Broadhead is a proven player in the Championship, scoring 13 in 38 during the 2023/24 as he played a key role in Ipswich Town’s unlikely promotion to the Premier League that season.

More signings to come for Wrexham this summer

Broadhead will be the ninth player to arrive at the Racecourse this summer. Wrexham’s summer transfer window has really burst into life in the last few weeks and Broadhead may well be the best signing of the lot.

And he arrives at a crucial time too following the recent injury blow to Moore who sustained an ankle injury on his Wrexham debut against Southampton last weekend.

Broadhead arriving and Moore’s injury could prompt Parkinson into making some slight changes to his style of play, but there are more signings likely to arrive anyway.

Speaking previously, Parkinson gave his verdict on Broadhead to Wrexham and said that the club are working on more deals than just the Broadhead one.

Parkinson said: “I honestly don’t know anything today, whether there’s been any developments. He’s Ipswich Town’s player. Until I’m told different, that’s the way it’ll stay. There’s a number of deals we’re looking into at the moment,”

Whether or not Broadhead arrives in time to play against West Brom on Saturday remains to be seen. But it’s an exciting signing nonetheless.
