Wrexham have turned their attention toward the Premier League in order to strengthen their striker ranks.
Wrexham’s search for a top-quality centre-forward has been going on for some time.
The Red Dragons were linked with a number of names over the summer before eventually landing on Modou Faal, whom they paid a club-record £590,000 for.
Faal is still yet to set the world alight in Wales, however, while Wrexham’s other centre-forward options are struggling on the goal front this term
Jack Marriot’s five in 10 means he is still their leading goalscorer in 2024/25 even though he’s been out of action for two months now.
| Wrexham’s top scorers | Goals |
| Jack Marriott | 5 |
| Max Cleworth | 4 |
| Elliot Lee | 4 |
| Ollie Palmer | 3 |
| James McClean | 2 |
To solve this issue, Wrexham are planning to sign a striker in the upcoming January transfer window.

Wrexham want to sign Ethan Wheatley from Manchester United
Previously, we revealed that Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds are eyeing new Wrexham relationships with Premier League and Championship teams.
On paper, this was set to allow Wrexham to start bringing players in on loan from clubs at a higher level.
And now, they are looking to do exactly that with Manchester United gem, Ethan Wheatley.
TWI have spoken to transfer expert Graeme Bailey who told us that Wrexham have put Wheatley on their list of striking targets heading into January.
A transfer may prove tough to complete for two key reasons, however. The first is that Man Utd are yet to decide if they want to loan the teenage sensation out.
While the second reason is Stockport County, a League One promotion rival of the Red Dragons, are also looking at the player.

What Wrexham fans should know about Ethan Wheatley
Born in Stockport, Wheatley is a product of Manchester United’s academy and has spent his entire career to date on their books.
Despite only being 18 years of age, he has already begun to work his way into the senior set-up at Man Utd.
Wheatley made his Premier League debut late last season, featuring under Erik ten Hag in a 4-2 win over Sheffield United.
He most recently lined out for the Red Devils under Ruud van Nistelrooy in a 5-2 Carabao Cup win over Leicester City in October.
The England youth international is yet to get off the mark at senior level but he has scored 14 in 28 for United’s U18s and nine in 20 for their U21 team.
