Wrexham are close to announcing a third signing in a matter of days, and Phil Parkinson may yet have a fourth in mind.
Wrexham’s recruitment drive has really picked up in recent days.
Liberato Cacace joined Wrexham from Empoli on Friday, with the New Zealand left-back completing a club-record move.
George Thomason arrived from Bolton Wanderers on Monday as Wrexham agreed a £1.2million deal for the midfielder.
Josh Windass is joining Wrexham on a three-year deal, with the free agent forward expected to be announced as a new signing in the coming days.
This flurry of activity isn’t enough, though, with Phil Parkinson now pushing for a major addition in midfield.

Wrexham plot new Lewis O’Brien move
Wrexham moved for Lewis O’Brien earlier in July, with a club-record £5million move believed to be on the table.
One problem has seen the deal stumble, though, as O’Brien’s wage demands were slightly out of reach.
The move has gone cold in recent weeks, but Wrexham still appear to be hopeful of bringing O’Brien to the STōK Cae Ras.
The Sun’s Alan Nixon reports that Wrexham are now launching a new move to sign O’Brien, and are coming in with a different proposal.
Wrexham are now preparing to pay Forest a smaller fee and use the funds to meet O’Brien’s personal terms.
O’Brien is completely out of the plans at Forest, and Wrexham may hope that their desire to offload his wages means the Premier League side will accept a lower fee.
Any deal for O’Brien would still be a seven-figure move, with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds allowing some considerable spending ahead of the new season.

Wrexham still chasing one more left-footed midfielder
Wrexham have been chasing left-footed midfielders all summer long, with Tom Cairney a target before staying at Fulham.
Thomason’s arrival on Monday left us wondering whether Parkinson’s pursuit had been fulfilled, with the former Bolton man a natural left-footer.
However, Wrexham’s renewed chase of O’Brien leads us to believe that Parkinson still wants another left-footed option.
Thomason’s rise through the leagues continues with a first taste of Championship action, but O’Brien is proven at this level.
Spells with Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Swansea City have seen O’Brien shine in the Championship, so he would slot right in as an instant impact player for Parkinson.
We would love to see this deal go through, but it remains to be seen whether Forest will drop their asking price to move O’Brien out of the club.
