Wrexham have brought in a new striker on transfer deadline day and Phil Parkinson is now moving his fringe forwards out of the club.

Wrexham fans came into transfer deadline day potentially expecting two signings.

Free agent midfielder Josh Adam appears to have been spotted in training amid claims he is training with Wrexham.

No deal has been done for Adam but there is no great rush there given his status as a free agent.

Wrexham were also expected to sign striker Modou Faal from West Bromwich Albion amid claims from Gambia that a deal was close.

That move was confirmed early on Friday morning with Parkinson delighted to welcome Faal to the STōK Cae Ras.

Wrexham allow Sam Dalby exit

Faal will arrive as something as a project.

The 21-year-old is a huge physical presence at 6ft 4in tall and will no doubt be a handful for League One defenders.

Wrexham will be patient with Faal though given that he has only had one season at League Two level, never mind League One.

Faal’s arrival will now pave the way for a departure with Sam Dalby on the verge of leaving Wrexham.

The Daily Record claim that Dalby is set to sign for Scottish Premiership side Dundee United.

It’s unclear whether that will be a loan or a permanent deal at this stage but Dalby is seemingly heading for Tannadice.

Dalby joined Wrexham from Southend United in 2022 having scored 10 times in 40 games for the Shrimpers.

Dalby has found the net 13 times in 88 games for Wrexham whilst also chipping in with 12 assists.

The 24-year-old is maybe a victim of Wrexham’s rapid rise up the leagues but fans would certainly wish him all the best having worked incredibly hard in a Wrexham shirt.

Wrexham exits on deadline day

Dalby is not the only player to leave Wrexham on deadline day and isn’t even the only forward to go.

Wrexham allowed Jake Bickerstaff to move out on loan to National League side Altrincham earlier on deadline day.

Bickerstaff spent the second half of last season on loan at League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Now seeking regular first-team football and some goalscoring form, Bickerstaff drops to National League level with Altrincham.

Wrexham have also allowed Billy Waters to leave the club, paving the way for a return to Halifax Town.

The 29-year-old has barely featured for Wrexham since signing from Barrow back in March 2023.

Waters is back at Wrexham after a loan spell with Doncaster Rovers and will hope to get back on track upon returning to Halifax Town.

Dalby, Bickerstaff and Waters were all going to struggle for first-team action this season and Wrexham have managed to find new clubs for all three.

Faal now comes into offer support behind Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher as Wrexham add one more forward and trim some unwanted players.
