Wrexham are right in the promotion mix and Phil Parkinson will be hoping for big additions to boost his promotion charge.

The January transfer window is open and Wrexham will be looking for signings to aid Phil Parkinson’s promotion push.

Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Peterborough United leaves Wrexham third in the League One table.

Chasing down big-spending Birmingham City at the top won’t be easy but Wrexham are right in the mix.

Parkinson will surely want new signings to aid Wrexham’s push this month with a third straight promotion now the target.

Shaun Harvey claims that Wrexham can spend in January but promotion rivals will also be eyeing up new faces.

Wycombe Wanderers eye fascinating signing in promotion race

Wrexham want a new striker according to reports and we have seen so many names linked already.

Elsewhere in the promotion race, Birmingham City have been linked with Nathan Redmond, a clear sign of the battle Wrexham face.

Wycombe Wanderers are the surprise package in this promotion mix with the Chairboys defying expectations.

Few expected Wycombe to be in this position and they are seeking January additions of their own.

Wycombe are taking an interesting approach though as they are now looking to Europe in search of big additions.

Tipsbladet’s Farzam Abolhosseini reports that Wycombe have now made an offer to sign Molde defender Anders Hagelskjaer.

In a transfer race nobody could have ever predicted, Wycombe are battling Cypriot side Pafos for Hagelskjaer’s signature.

This would be a huge addition for Wycombe and once which may be needed amid doubts over star defender Joe Low.

Preston North End are rivalling Swansea City for Low according to The Sun’s Alan Nixon and whilst that would be an enormous blow for Wycombe, they are showing some creative thinking by exploring the Scandinavian market.

Wrexham yet to explore overseas markets

This is something Wrexham are yet to really explore since the Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds takeover.

In fact, just one signing under Phil Parkinson has arrived from a non-English or Welsh club – goalkeeper Luke McNicholas joining from Sligo Rovers.

Parkinson has prioritised landing experienced EFL performers who have helped drive Wrexham forward quickly.

Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, Elliot Lee, George Dobson, James McClean, the list goes on.

Wrexham have started to bring in younger players now though with the likes of Josh Adam, Modou Faal and Sebastian Revan arriving.

Maybe the next step is to explore foreign markets and attempt to find talent around the world with players all over no doubt aware of the Wrexham story and wanting a slice of the McElhenney and Reynolds project.

Parkinson’s approach has worked perfectly so far though and having built such a strong team spirit at Wrexham, he will want to make sure any foreign import is the right character and a good fit in the Wrexham bubble above anything else.
