This week has posed an opportunity for Wrexham to take a break from League Two action with FA Cup and EFL Trophy fixtures.
Last time out Phil Parkinson’s side were able to secure their place in the third round of the cup with a 3-0 win over Yeovil Town.
Now they will look ahead to the visit of Burton as they look to progress into the next round of the trophy in midweek.
Up against Town, there was a surprising lack of squad rotation and as a result, the starting XI had a rather familiar feel. Progression was confirmed thanks to goals from Ollie Palmer, Andy Cannon and Sam Dalby.
This time around, more rotation is likely. With that being said, here is our predicted XI…
Wrexham predicted XI vs Burton Albion
With Arthur Okonkwo likely to be out injured once again, there is a toss-up between Mark Howard and Luke McNicholas. Last time around, it was Howard who started in between the sticks as he claimed a clean sheet. This time around we believe it will be McNicholas who comes in to start.
In the wingback roles, it could go strong or could be fully rotated. Bryce Hosannah came in the last EFL Trophy match and he makes our predicted XI for this one. On the opposite flank could be James McClean or Liam McAlinden could come in.
The centre-back role sees Wrexham be quite light right now which makes rotation a tough task. Will Boyle will likely come in alongside George Evans and Ben Tozer. This goes to show the lack of depth in that position right now.
In midfield there are more options for rotation, but given the form of some stars, who will drop out? In our predicted XI we suggest James Jones will start and he will be joined by Luke Young. Jordan Davies could come into form that three or Parkinson may stick with Elliot Lee or Andy Cannon.
Up front, Sam Dalby is likely to get a start following his goal at the weekend. Alongside him is a toss-up but Paul Mullin basically always plays when he can and we suggest that he should.
