Wrexham racked up a fourth straight win on Saturday afternoon, beating Burton Albion 1-0 in terrible conditions away from home.
Wrexham’s home form has been exceptional this season and three straight wins at the STōK Cae Ras had shifted the momentum.
Defeat at Stockport County in November was a huge disappointment but Wrexham have hit back in the right manner.
Wins over Exeter City, Lincoln City and Barnsley have put Wrexham on a strong run – and helped Phil Parkinson pick up 200 home points as Wrexham boss.
Saturday saw Wrexham hit the road to take on struggling Burton Albion and it proved to be a tight affair in dreadful conditions.
Storm Darragh wreaked havoc but it actually helped Wrexham in a way as Elliot Lee’s corner drifted all the way into the net, handing Wrexham the 1-0 win.

Elliot Lee on Wrexham fans
Lee’s goal was praised by Wrexham fans but, unsurprisingly, wasn’t quite so well-received by Burton Albion.
Brewers defender Udoka Godwin-Malife called Lee’s goal ‘freakish’ and admitted that it felt like a ‘punch in the ribs’.
The swirling winds made this game a real battle and Wrexham almost benefited twice.
Lee’s corner kick certainly appeared to be aided by the wind and Thomas O’Connor almost scored from a ridiculous free kick into the box which suddenly flew towards goal.
Wrexham will just be glad to have come away with the victory and send the travelling fans home happy.
Travelling from Wrexham to Burton was far from easy on Saturday morning and many fans had fears that the game would end up being called off.
Wrexham were backed brilliantly though and goalscorer Lee has paid tribute to those travelling supporters.
Speaking on Wrexham’s official YouTube channel, Lee called the support ‘incredible’ and ‘unbelievable’, admitting how he loved seeing the away end full of happy fans at the final whistle.
Lee hoped that the travelling Wrexham fans enjoyed the rest of their weekend, no doubt aided by a big win on the road.
“Yeah, it’s incredible – I can’t imagine what they’ve been through to get from Wrexham to here, but to come and show the support for the lads on a day like today, and still all there with a packed away end clapping at the end, it’s unbelievable and the boys are delighted to be able to send all the travelling fans home with the three points and hope they enjoy their weekend,” said Lee.
Wrexham facing another home-heavy run
The fixture list always brings up some quirks and Wrexham having three home games in a row certainly shows that.
Wrexham took advantage with three wins in a row and that momentum may well have helped pick up that away win at Burton.
Wrexham now face four home games in the next five, taking on Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge United before a trip to Bristol Rovers, then hosting Blackpool and Wigan Athletic.
A trip to Barnsley kicks off 2025 before Wrexham are at home once again, hosting Peterborough United on January 4.
Wrexham’s trip to Reading has been cancelled though with the Royals’ FA Cup commitments scuppering the January 11 clash.
That means Wrexham have just two away games before facing Shrewsbury Town on January 16, with Lee no doubt keen to make those trips memorable – just as he did on Saturday.
