The League One promotion race will look a little different after Wrexham take on Shrewsbury this week, one way or another.
Wrexham have had to wait almost two weeks since their last game due to postponements and the FA Cup schedule, but an away trip to Shrewsbury awaits for Phil Parkinson’s men on Thursday night.
With Wrexham fighting it out at the top of the table in League One, and Shrewsbury battling for their lives in the relegation zones, on paper at least, this would seem like a foregone conclusion.
However, Wrexham will need to fix one big issue to get the win they need, and you can watch it all unfold thanks to information we’ve compiled here.

The game between Shrewsbury and Wrexham is scheduled for an 8pm kick-off on Thursday, January 16, 2025. The match will take place at Shrewsbury’s Croud Meadow ground, and is the only League One game on the night.

Wrexham and Shrewsbury team news ahead of League One meeting
We have a pretty good idea of the lineup Wrexham will go for versus Shrewsbury. Parkinson does have a few players coming back from injury, but he is unlikely to rush them back for this game, given Birmingham City are up next for the Red Dragons.
Lewis Brunt, Elliot Lee, and Ryan Barnett all missed the last game against Peterborough with a calf issue, thigh injury, and hip problem respectively. The trio could be in contention for Thursday, but are more likely to be rested.
Meanwhile, Jack Marriott is back in training, but the striker will not be ready for this game, leaving Parkinson to choose between Paul Mullin, Ollie Palmer, and the in-form Steven Fletcher up top.
The good news is George Evans and Jamie Jones are both back and ready to play. The midfield duo were in line for a return against Port Vale last week before the game was called off.
Shrewsbury will certainly be without George Nurse, who is out long-term with an ACL injury. Meanwhile, Joshua Kayode has returned to his parent club Rotherham after a short loan spell with the Shrews.
