Wrexham picked up another narrow home win on Saturday as Steven Fletcher once again proved the match-winner against Peterborough United.

Wrexham were back at the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday afternoon having started 2025 with a defeat on the road at Barnsley.

Away form has been a problem for Wrexham this season but Phil Parkinson boasts an incredible home record at the STōK Cae Ras.

Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson expected a fight against Wrexham and fans will have been looking for a home win against a struggling Posh side.

This was in danger of being a frustrating day though as Wrexham toiled away, unable to breach what has been a leaky Peterborough defence.

Wrexham left it late to find the winner as Steven Fletcher found the net with just minutes to play, scoring in his fourth home game in a row – all from the bench.

Paul Mullin reacts to Wrexham win

Parkinson will want better results on the road but Wrexham’s home form can certainly provide the backbone for a strong season.

Goals aren’t exactly flowing right now and Fletcher is proving to be Wrexham’s hero off the bench right now.

Paul Mullin dazzled fans with a stunning goal against Blackpool on Boxing Day but hasn’t scored in the three games since.

This season has been a tricky one for Mullin; we are so used to seeing him score with regularity in the Wrexham attack.

Mullin has managed just two league goals this season though and the hope is that he will step up in the second half of the season.

Mullin took to Instagram after Saturday’s victory and sent a brief message to supporters.

‘Great end to such a tough period,’ said Mullin as Wrexham’s busy festive period came to an end.

‘Up the town’ added Mullin as he celebrated another crucial Wrexham victory.

Vital Wrexham break coming up

Mullin will be delighted to see the back of the festive period with Wrexham playing four times since Christmas Day.

Parkinson’s attention now turns to the EFL Trophy clash against Port Vale in midweek with Wrexham looking to progress.

Wrexham will though rest key players though and Mullin may well be one of those either on the bench or potentially left out entirely.

Wrexham’s trip to Reading has been postponed due to the Royals’ FA Cup commitments, so it’s a free weekend for Parkinson and co coming up.

That opportunity to recharge will be so vital for Wrexham with big games against Shrewsbury Town and Birmingham City in the coming weeks, with Parkinson and Mullin no doubt gearing up for a real push towards promotion after this break.
