Wrexham produced another late show to beat Peterborough United 1-0 at the STōK Cae Ras on Saturday afternoon.
Wrexham opened 2025 with a defeat, losing 2-1 away at Barnsley on New Year’s Day.
Phil Parkinson will have been seeking an immediate response and returning to the STōK Cae Ras will have been a big boost.
Wrexham’s home record under Parkinson is brilliant and fans were looking for another victory on Saturday.
Peterborough United were the visitors with Darren Ferguson’s side struggling so far this season.
Ferguson’s emotional return to Wrexham didn’t quite go to plan as Wrexham huffed and puffed before finally finding the winner through Steven Fletcher late in the day.

Peterborough United defender on Wrexham defeat
Wrexham were the strong favourites to win this one with Peterborough leaking goals and struggling for wins.
Posh boss Ferguson expected a fight against Wrexham though and wanted his players to stand up to the physical battle.
Peterborough came so close to snatching a point but Wrexham had the moment of quality late in the day.
Ferguson was gutted to lose to a ‘powerful’ Wrexham side and defender Emmanuel Fernandez has offered his reaction.
Speaking to Peterborough Today, Fernandez noted that many expected Peterborough to ‘get rolled over’ against a flying Wrexham side.
Fernandez felt that Wrexham didn’t have many chances to score and believed that a rare Peterborough clean sheet was imminent.
Wrexham struck late on and Fernandez admitted being ‘heartbroken’ as Fletcher found the net and secured the win over Wrexham.
“People probably thought we would get rolled over today,” said Fernandez. “But it was nothing like that. We knew their threats and they didn’t have many chances to score. For the first time in a while I thought a clean sheet was coming, but then they scored with a great header.
“I was heartbroken to be honest as the boys couldn’t have done much more. We put a lot of effort into that game, but we’re in a bad run and nothing seems to be going our way. If we keep playing like this though, with belief and confidence, we will start getting results.
“We had some good phases of possession. We had a chance from close range in the first-half and Chris Conn-Clarke could have got a shot away towards the end,” he added.

Wrexham complete Peterborough double
Parkinson celebrated 1000 games in management on Saturday and will have been delighted to claim a win.
It doesn’t mean all that much in the grand scheme of things, but the result also means that Wrexham have completed the double over Peterborough this season.
Wrexham went to London Road and secured a 2-0 win earlier this season with Ferguson praising Jack Marriott’s impact.
Marriott wasn’t available against his former side this time around but it didn’t matter as Fletched bagged the winner.
This may be Wrexham’s first season back in League One but established sides like Peterborough are struggling to even score against wrexham, never mind grab wins – and that bodes well in this potential promotion push.
