Wrexham predicted XI, team and injury news as Sebastian Revan dropped vs Northampton Town

Wrexham face off with Northampton Town in a League One clash on Saturday, October 5th.

It has been a rough week for Phil Parkinson’s Red Dragons, who have been knocked off top spot in League One by Birmingham City.

Wrexham drew 0-0 with Leyton Orient last weekend before suffering their second defeat of the season against Stevenage on Tuesday evening.

That allowed Birmingham City to open up a five-point gap at the League One summit while still having a game in hand.

Wrexham’s away form is a concern right now, having won just one game away from the Racecourse so far this season.

However, the meeting with Northampton Town is on home soil and should be a great chance for the Welsh outfit to bounce back.

Wrexham have been excellent at home in 2024, while Northampton are 19th in the division going into Saturday afternoon’s game.

Wrexham team news ahead of Northampton Town

After largely avoiding any major injury issues in the early stages of 2024/25, Wrexham now have two going into the weekend.

Max Cleworth picked up an ankle injury against Leyton Orient last weekend and now looks set for a potentially lengthy spell on the sidelines.

On Cleworth’s injury, Parkinson said: “We have had a decent run with injuries so far this season but one or two things have caught up with us a little bit now.

“We have to reassess a little bit and look ahead to the weekend.”

Luke Bolton and Anthony Forde remain out with long-term issues as well, while George Evans ‘felt something crack’ versus Stevenage and he too is expected to miss out against Northampton.

Parkinson said on Evans: “It’s such a shame for George because he has worked hard to get back into the team.

“He felt something crack. I don’t know what it is, but it is a huge blow.”

Wrexham predicted XI vs Northampton Town

Sebastian Revan was handed his second league start of the season for the loss to Stevenage in midweek.

The defender did little wrong but after James McClean struggled in midfield, Parkinson will likely drop him back into his favoured left-wing-back role, forcing Revan out of the eleven.

The ex-Aston Villa man can operate at right-wing-back as well but with Ryan Barnett excelling for Wrexham this season, there is no real room in the starting line-up for Revan, who Parkison previously called ‘special’.

Dan Scarr will likely keep his place with Cleworth out while Elliott Lee should come back in after being benched on Tuesday.

And with Wrexham struggling for goals in their last two matches, Parkinson may now return to his tried and tested striking duo of Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin.

Here’s how we think Wrexham will line up against Northampton Town on Saturday…
