We all know Wrexham are going to be a big deal this season, and the latest TV broadcast decision has reaffirmed that already.
Since Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney rode into town, Wrexham have become a global name in the footballing world.
The Red Dragons’ impressive rise through the Football League has helped garner a lot of attention for Phil Parkinson’s side, with their fairytale story making headlines across the world.
Wrexham can already expect a decent chunk of Championship TV revenue for 2025/26 as part of the standard deal, but it already looks like the EFL are going to be putting extra emphasis on the Welsh club this term.

You can watch Wrexham vs West Brom on ITV
Wrexham’s fixture list for the season will throw up some tantalising ties against the likes of recently-relegated Southampton and Leicester City, while Welsh rivalries with Swansea City will be reignited.
However, it’s now been revealed that Wrexham’s first home game of the season will be broadcast to fans across the UK.
West Brom travel to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday 16th August for a lunchtime kick-off, and the game has now been selected by Sky Sports for broadcast.
What’s interesting, though, is that the game has also been given the go-ahead to be shown simultaneously on ITV.
ITV broadcast two Championship matches last season as part of an initiative to bring the game to more people for free, with Leeds United vs Sheffield Wednesday and Middlesbrough vs Sunderland previously chosen.
That deal has now been extended to ten games this season, with Wrexham vs West Brom taking one of those spots.

Wrexham games will get a lot of attention in 2025/26
While some have tipped Wrexham to challenge for promotion this season, others are more pragmatic and believe the Red Dragons will merely establish themselves in the second tier in 2025/26.
Still, given they were playing in the National League just four years ago, landing comfortably in midtable would be quite the achievement for Wrexham this term.
Regardless, they’ll be one of the star attractions in the Championship this season, largely thanks to the high-profile owners at the heart of the Wrexham project.
Wrexham will no doubt be a major talking point for neutrals and pundits again this year, and let’s be honest, Rob and Ryan wouldn’t have it any other way.
This won’t be the last Wrexham game to be chosen for widespread television broadcast, but Wrexham will want to get off to a good start in their opening run of fixtures to ensure all that talk around them is positive.
