Wrexham and Birmingham City are competing against each other once more in the 2025/26 season.

The Dragons won yet another promotion last term, finishing second in League One behind Birmingham City.

Tom Brady has teased Wrexham multiple times since Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac became owners, and their rivalry is set to continue into the new season.

The Blues started the transfer window on the front foot, making some big signings.

But once Nathan Broadhead’s deal is over the line, Wrexham will be one of the biggest spenders in the Championship.

Now, Neil Warnock has given his thoughts on how the two clubs will fare this season.

Wrexham and Birmingham City’s Championship promotion chances

Birmingham have made it clear they want to try and win promotion to the Premier League this season.

Rob Mac has played down ‘consolidation’ for Wrexham as well, and their transfer activity this summer suggests they want to do more than avoid relegation.

And speaking on talkSPORT this week, former Cardiff City and Middlesbrough manager Warnock is expecting big things from both.

He pointed toward the ‘silly money’ being spent by them and suggested they should both be at the top end of the table.

Warnock said: “I think Wrexham and Birmingham, I mean, they’re paying so much silly money out, aren’t they? So they’ve got to have a good chance of being up there.”

Ben Foster and Troy Deeney Wrexham Championship predictions

Aside from Warnock, plenty more notable names have been discussing how the Dragons could fare in the second tier.

Ex-Blue Troy Deeney gave a mixed assessment of Wrexham but backed them for a top-half finish.

Former goalkeeper Mark Howard has assessed the Dragons’ Championship chances as well following his exit.

And Ben Foster thinks Wrexham will remain in the Championship for a couple of years.
