Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson might be very interested to see what’s just been written about one of his attacker targets for the summer.
Wrexham now have a growing number of summer transfer targets following their promotion to the Championship, and following the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
Last time out Wrexham beat Lincoln City 2-0 to finish their campaign on a high. And now, attentions will rapidly turn to the summer with a big transfer window needed for Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s side.
There’s some exciting new names being linked with a summer move to the Racecourse. Wrexham are linked with Callum Robinson at Cardiff City following the Bluebirds’ relegation, along with Plymouth Argyle’s Ryan Hardie following the Pilgrims’ relegation.
And Hardie has just earned some huge praise for his 2024/25 season, despite Plymouth’s difficult showing.

Ryan Hardie named Plymouth Argyle’s Player of the Season by journalist
Writing for Plymouth Live, journalist Chris Errington has given his unofficial 2024/25 awards and Hardie was named as his Player of the Season. A striker, Hardie scored 10 in 37 Championship games for Plymouth, adding to his 12 from last season.
Errington wrote: “Ryan Hardie has often been a striker who scores goals in hot streaks and there was more evidence of that this season. He began the campaign by netting just twice in 21 appearances while Wayne Rooney was in charge of the Pilgrims. The style of play under the England legend just did not seem to play to his strengths.
“However, after Miron Muslic was appointed as Rooney’s successor it did not take long for Hardie to start firing in the goals again. He got 10 of them in 15 games, with nine of them coming in the Championship and the other one being the penalty which sealed Argyle’s incredible FA Cup upset of Liverpool.
“Hardie had to deal with a few injuries throughout the campaign but was prepared to play on regardless at times because of the Pilgrims’ lowly league position and his belief he could help them get out of trouble with his goals. Ultimately, he did not do that but, in my mind, he was without doubt their player-of-the-year.”
Ryan Hardie’s stats for Plymouth Argyle in 2024/25
It’s likely that Hardie will attract yet more transfer interest ahead of the summer transfer window opening in June. He was a shining light in a very poor Plymouth side and the type of player that Wrexham should certainly be targeting this summer.
Wrexham have been tipped to stabilise in the Championship but they could easily struggle next time round. Though the fact that Hardie proved prolific in a struggling side suggests he could be a great signing for the Dragons next season, whether they struggle or not.

And at 28 years old, he’s arguably in his prime years. Not too old but old enough to be classed as an experienced player, with two seasons of Championship football with Plymouth now under his belt.
What’s more is that the Englishman is out of contract in 2026 and seemingly unlikely to renew following relegation. He could be up for grabs.
