Ben Tozer believes Wrexham will ‘pack a punch’ in next season’s Championship

Speaking on the latest episode of the ‘Fearless in Devotion’ podcast, Tozer has spoken positively about Wrexham’s chances of competing against the bigger sides next season.

The former defender spoke of the ‘surreal’ feeling of facing teams such as Southampton and Middlesbrough but backed his old side to spring a surprise or two.

Tozer stated: “Let’s be honest, the club are going to hopefully go for it and pack a punch, not kind of respect them too much and try and fight fire with fire basically.”

Ryan Reynolds sent a heartfelt message to Tozer after the defender recently retired following a spell in the National League with Forest Green.

Like many others, Tozer can now sit back, relax and watch the thrilling ride that will be Wrexham in the Championship.

How can Wrexham compete with the Championship big guns?

Parkinson’s XI against Southampton is likely to look very different to the one that finished the League One campaign against Lincoln.

Ryan Hardie has proven he can score goals at the level and Wrexham will need a few more acquisitions to bolster the quality of their squad.

However, Parkinson wants to keep their winning momentum going and cannot completely dismantle the core of his starting eleven.

Any new recruits should be blooded into the team gradually and get them accustomed to the formation and style of play.
