Wrexham were linked to countless players throughout the summer transfer window as they looked to prepare for the Championship campaign by bringing in quality suited to the second tier of English football.
A total of 13 players made their way to the Racecourse Ground during the summer as Wrexham spent £33 million to acquire a squad to the liking of Phil Parkinson.
However, they did not manage to bring in every target they wanted, missing out on several players they were linked with, one being John Egan, who may move to Gaelic football once his time in England is done.
Now, another target that had been linked to the Red Dragons has had an update about where his future may be this season.

Portsmouth out of the running to sign Patrick Bamford
It is being reported by The News that Portsmouth will not be signing Patrick Bamford on a free transfer after rumours emerged that they were being closely linked to the striker.
The 32-year-old has been without a club since leaving Leeds United this summer and has been linked to many clubs in the Championship and even one in La Liga.
Wrexham had been linked to Patrick Bamford earlier in the summer transfer window, and there are still some lingering rumours; however, a deal appears no closer for the striker.
He has also been linked to Getafe and former club Middlesbrough in the past few weeks as a player who has impressed in both the Premier League and Championship.
Likelihood of Patrick Bamford joining Wrexham
Wrexham look set to sign Sam Hocking for free in the coming days despite the transfer window being closed, meaning there is a possibility for Patrick Bamford to join the club.
However, it does appear unlikely, as he will not be able to be registered, with this already being the fate of Jay Rodriguez, who may not play in the Championship for the Red Dragons until January.

It would not make sense from a financial point of view to bring Bamford to the club when Phil Parkinson will not be able to play him for Wrexham until January, with these wages just going to waste.
While Bamford had been a potent threat in the Championship several seasons ago, his record last season in the league was poor, as he failed to score in his 17 appearances.
