Wrexham managed to force through a late deal to sign defender Dominic Hyam from Blackburn Rovers on deadline day.
Wrexham made three deadline day signings, making significant additions to Phil Parkinson’s squad in the final hours of the transfer window.
Dominic Hyam joined Wrexham in a £2.7million move from Blackburn Rovers, handing Parkinson an experienced centre-back option at Championship level.
Wrexham’s deal for Hyam surprised Blackburn, as Rovers thought Parkinson and co would back away over the asking price.

Dominic Hyam on Wrexham move
Instead, Wrexham paid up and brought Hyam to the STōK Cae Ras in an impressive late deal.
Blackburn’s Rudy Gestede confirmed that Hyam asked to be sold to Wrexham, paving the way for his last-gasp switch.
Hyam brings proven Championship quality, and Wrexham’s 3-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers suggests that the Scot is needed.
Hyam said an emotional goodbye to Blackburn after completing his move, and he only arrived in Wrexham a matter of days ago, having been on international duty with Scotland.
The defender has now taken to Instagram to send a message to Wrexham fans, admitting that he is ‘excited and proud’ to have joined the club.
Hyam is embracing a ‘new chapter’ at the STōK Cae Ras, and can’t wait to pull on the famous red shirt for the first time.
“New chapter! Excited and proud to sign for Wrexham. Thanks for the welcome messages!! Can’t wait to get going!” said Hyam.
Hyam was an unused substitute against QPR on Saturday but may now push for a start against Norwich City this weekend.
Owen Beck among players to respond to Dominic Hyam
A number of Hyam’s former Blackburn teammates responded in the comments, with Crystal Palace star Adam Wharton and Espanyol’s Tyrhys Dolan wishing him success at Wrexham.
Sondre Tronstad, Harry Leonard and Dilan Markanday followed suit, having also played with Hyam at Ewood Park.
Liverpool’s Owen Beck, who is currently on loan at Derby County, said ‘all the best mate’ as he took an interest in Hyam’s move.
Beck played with Hyam at Blackburn, but also hails from Wrexham and has now seen his hometown club secure one of his former teammates.
Beck grew up supporting Liverpool, but surely had a smile on his face upon seeing Hyam complete a move to Wrexham.
Wrexham were interested in Beck over the summer, but saw him join the Rams instead.
The Welshman has yet to feature for Derby, picking up an injury in August, which has delayed his competitive Rams debut.
Perhaps Beck will remain on Wrexham’s radar in 2026, with the possibility of reuniting with Hyam down the line.
