Charlton Athletic manager Nathan Jones is never too far away from a controversial opinion or comment, and he’s not failed to deliver ahead of Wrexham on Saturday.

Wrexham welcome Charlton Athletic to the Racecourse on Saturday. It’s a promotion crunch match with the Dragons in 2nd place of the League One table after their 2-1 win away at Blackpool on Easter Monday, and Charlton in 4th and four points behind Wrexham.

Last time out, Charlton thumped Wycombe Wanderers 4-0 in what was a huge help to Wrexham. But Addicks boss Nathan Jones isn’t all too impressed by Wrexham and their astonishing journey under Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, the 51-year-old Jones said Wrexham is a ‘circus’, which has prompted a strong response from Wrexham fans.

Wrexham fans blast Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones over ‘circus’ remark

Wrexham fans are used to this kind of drama by now. “Thanks for the team talk pal,” said one fan as another added: “Absolutely nothing against Charlton Athletic, but this bloke is about as dislikeable as they come.”

Another Wrexham fan said: “Dumb remark.” One even commented: “He should feel right at home then the clown,” as a similar comment read: “What a cheek! They’ll be the ones looking like clowns.”

This Wrexham fan posted: “Unfortunately for him the roller coaster is still climbing and shows no sign of stopping.”

Phil Parkinson’s record in charge of Charlton Athletic

Phil Parkinson has only ever managed against Jones once, which was Wrexham’s 2-2 draw against Charlton Athletic earlier in the season.

But Parkinson was once in Jones’ shoes at The Valley. The 57-year-old was Charlton boss between 2008 and 2011 overseeing 114 games in charge and eventually leaving with a win rate of 38.6%.

That’s compared to his win rate of 61.19% at Wrexham which is by far the best of his managerial career to date with any club.

Saturday’s game kicks off at 5:30pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports.
