For Wrexham, the going is very good right now. For Paul Mullin, not so much: he’s not played a single minute of league football since January.
Wrexham are back in 2nd place of the League One table following an impressive and very much-needed 2-1 win over Blackpool on Easter Monday, courtesy of goals from Ollie Rathbone and James McClean.
Phil Parkinson’s side next host Charlton Athletic in League One on Saturday, and Wrexham can secure promotion if they win that game, and if Wycombe Wanderers lose against Leyton Orient in an earlier kick off on the day.
It would be a third-straight promotion for the Dragons who under owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney are taking the English Football League by storm, and promotion would surely trigger another busy and potentially lucrative summer transfer window at the Racecourse.
But club legend Paul Mullin isn’t having the best of times right now. He could well move on this summer.

Wrexham’s win at Blackpool is another nail in the coffin for Paul Mullin
Mullin hasn’t played a single minute of league football in any of Wrexham’s last 16 games now. Parkinson simply said Mullin is down the pecking order at Wrexham but many fans think there’s more to the story than meets the eye, despite Mullin’s disappointing record of three goals in 26 League One appearances this season.
And now with Wrexham picking up a vital win in the race for promotion, putting themselves back in the driving seat for 2nd place in the process, it’s another huge blow for Mullin where his Wrexham future is concerned, as promotion surely condemns him to a miserable exit from the club.
Or maybe Mullin is looking ahead to the summer where the 30-year-old will have the chance to really dissect what’s gone on this season, and decide where his future lies once and for all.

Carlton Palmer’s grim prediction for Paul Mullin at Wrexham
Before the game against Bristol Rovers last Friday, journalist Nathan Salt predicted that Mullin has played his last game for Wrexham and with every passing fixture, that statement looks more and more true.
Earlier in the year though, EFL pundit Carlton Palmer backed Wrexham to sell Mullin if they’re promoted this season, which is a prediction that also looks like it’ll prove correct in the very near future.
Palmer explained: “I think it’s probably likely they [the owners] will have a conversation with Mullin in the summer, and say to him that it’s better that he moves on. If they get promotion, that would be a step too far for him, so that conversation would have to be had.”
Whilst the win a Blackpool was brilliant news for the club, where Mullin is regarded, maybe not.
